Episode Reviews: Battle aboard the St Anne

Who's that Pokémon?
Pikachu's Jukebox? Pokérap!
Brock or Tracey? Brock!

This episode begins with Ash, Misty, Brock and Pikachu seeing a huge, beautiful ship at the docks at Veridian City. Misty imagines sun-bathing on the deck. Then they realize that they'd never be able to afford it. Reality bites. . .

Suddenly, two girls, who are acutally Jessie and James, (James is in drag!) come up to them. They're offering them tickets to go on the St. Anne, a luxury cruise liner! All the best Pokemon trainers will be there! They acutally say radical, and Misty asks Ash if anyone even says that anymore. And James keeps going "Cooool!" which really annoyed me. They give them the tickets and run.

We see Team Rocket, minus the costumes, in a room with a big screen. Meowth says they've got a call from the boss. A man in shadows appear on the screen. A Persian, the evolved form of Meowth, rubs against him. Meowth gets upset. What about Meowth? The Boss says he's disgusted with him, and Meowth becomes really sad.

The plan is to get all the Pokemon from the trainers they tricked into boarding the St. Anne. That's why they gave out free tickets.

Ash, Misty, Brock and Pikachu board the ship. They go into a huge room, filled with trainers and their Pokemon! There's a Pokemon battle going on between a man in a tuxedo and top hat, and a young boy. The man sends a Raticate, and the boy sends a Starmie. Raticate uses a Jump Kick, and Starmie Tackles! Raticate uses Super Fang Attack, and cracks the red jewel on Starmie's center! Ash challenges the man. The man uses Raticate again, and Ash sends Butterfree.

Meanwhile, we see Jessie and James disguised as waitors. James has an image of himslf lying on a pile of Pokemon.

Raticate uses Jump Kick, and Butterfree Tackles! They bounce off each other a few times. Raticate uses Hyper Fang, but Butterfree paralyzes it with Stun Spore! Before it can use Whirlwind, the man stops the battle, saying it was a tie. But Ash was winning!

James is walking across the room when a weird guy at a booth stops him. He shows him a Magikarp. He says its a Pokemon goldmine! Each one lays 1000 eggs, and each one of those 1000 lays 1000 more! If he sells each Magikarp for $100 each, he could make a fortune! So, James stupidly buys the Magikarp.

The ship starts moving. . .

Ash, Misty, Brock and Pikachu are stuffing their faces at the buffet table. The man Ash was fighting compliments Ash on his Butterfree. The woman who was with the man before is there, and Brock sees her and goes into that trance he does whenever he sees a pretty girl. Ash says he thinks that Raticate was okay, too. The man suggests that they trade thier Pokemon. He says it a way friendships are made. The woman says making friends is good. Ash asks Brock if he should, and since Brock is in a trance, he says yeah. He wants to make friends with that woman, of course. Funny!

They trade them through a special trade machine. But Ash seems upset.

Jessie and Meowth are MAD. Jessie tells James that Magikarp is a worthless, no talent Pokemon. James then says how he had to use Jessie's salary to help pay for it. That makes her even angrier, of course. . .

Ash is standing outside by the railing. He's definily upset. Misty asks him why, and he says that he doesn't know if that man is going to take care of Butterfree like he did. He's worried.

Meanwhile, The Boss is watching all the trainers through security cameras.

All the doors close! Lots of Team Rocket guys come! The lights go off, and Jessie and an un-enthusiastic James say their lines. They're here to take all the Pokemon! They start sucking them up with vacuum things!

Ash has Pikachu shock them! They have to fight back! Everyone starts sending their Pokemon.

Lots of Pikachus! Dozen of Pikachu gather together, along with Ash's! They shock Team Rocket! Then all the Charmander fry them. Brock sends his Geodude, and it gathers with other Geodudes and knock out some more Team Rocket guys. Then the Bulbasaurs all use their Vine Whips. When the Butterfree are sent out, Ash tries to send his, but he forgot that he traded it! He gets upset. He remembers when Butterfree evolved. He has to get it back!
