Episode Reviews: The Ultimate test

Brock or Tracey? Brock!

Ash, Brock, Misty, Todd, Pikachu and Togepi are eating. Misty asks Ash if he's ever going to get more badges. He starts choking, and Brock gives him something to drink. Misty says Ash could always make another Gym Leader feel sorry for him. Ash says he uses skill to win battles! Misty points out that is doesn't take much skill to beat Team Rocket. Ash says he'll battle Misty! Pikachu asks if Ash will change his mind about that, and Todd takes some pictures of Pikachu. Todd says that if Ash wants to prove his skill, he should take the Pokémon League Admissions Exam!

They go to a large building, where there are lots of people. A weird man is explaining that if you pass the exam, you get a special badge that means you can enter the Pokémon League! Ash takes his testing numner, 7. He says its his lucky number. Near him, there is a familiar girl, Jessie! She's wearing glasses, and has her hair in pigtails. And she's wearing some weird outfit. Ash sees her, and says she looks familiar. She freaks out, and fils out her exam form, saying that she's 17! Well, now we know her age.

Brock, of course, spots Nurse Joy in the crowd! Ash wonders which one it is. The guy tells Ash to leave all his Pokémon with him. Misty sas she'll watch Pikachu. Joy tells them that she wants to become a Pokémon Master, too. She says she's the Joy from Fuchsia City, and the sister of the one in Vermilion City. She says that she can't travel to get badges, because she has too much work. She says the exam is perfect for the people who can't travel because of age, or sickness, or their work keeps them busy. Brock says he's sure Joy will pass!

Ash spots another familiar looking person walk in. Its James, wearing these big glasses! He also freaks out, and turns around before Ash recognizes him. He hands his exam form to the guy. They guy says Jame's name, and James shouts for him to keep it down. Jessie is there, and I can't remember what she say. But then James calls her an old bat, not knowing its her. Then they recognize each other, and Jessie hits him. She drags him outside, and demands to know what he;s doing there! James says he wants to become a Pokémon Master! He asks Jessie, and she says she wants to add yet another talent to her extensive resume. Florist, designer, hostess, fashion consultant, etc. Meowth jumps in, and says the only thing she isn't is Pokémon Master. He says he's been looking for them. It doesn't seem like they;re doing what they said they had gone to do. They say they were going to have a picnic, and Meowth scratches them. James throws him a ball of yarn, and they run while he's distracted.

Exam #1: The guy says the first ones tests your overall knowledge of Pokémon. I'll put the real answers, too. Ash says it should be easy. First question: Likatung's tongue is twice as long as its body. True or False? Ash puts False. He's right. Next: Vulpix evolves into Ninetales only when exposed to a Fire Stone. True or False? Ash puts True. He's right. Next. Hitmonlee is known as the Punching Menace. True or False? Ash, stupidly, puts True. Next: Magikarp's only attack is Splash. True or False? (True) James gets angry, saying just hearing the name Magikarp makes his blood boil. He sees that Jessie it putting that its true. Next: Caterpie is the smallest Pokémon. True or False? (False, Diglett is) Jessie puts true. Next: Koffing was first discovered in a, um, public bathhouse? Jessie keeps putting True, saying that if she guesses, she'll get half of them right.

Exam #2: The guy says you have to identify Pokémon based of their silouette, or a body part. First: A circle. Ash says its a Voltorb. James says its a Poké Ball! Jessie says its an Electrode. The answer: A Jigglypuff seen from above! Next: A swirl. James says it must be an Omanyte's shell! Jessie says its an Arbok coiled up. Ash says its a Poliwhirl. Answer: A Poliwag! The guy says that when it evolves in Poliwhirl, the swirl reverses. Misty says this is hard. Next: A flame. What Pokémon has a tail like this? Ash thinks its a Charmander, but its a Ponyta. (obviously. I could tell it was a Ponyta) Jessie gets angry, and says to ask questions she knows the answer to! The guy says a Pokémon Matser must know everything about Pokémon. Jessie gets angrier,and leaves.

Jessie goes out to where Meowth is asleep, and wakes him up. She says he's going to help her get revenge!

A scoreboard is brought down, showing how well everyone did. Nurse Joy is near the top! But Ash, Jessie and James all got the lowest scores! Ash says it doesn't matter, battling is the important part of becoming a Pokémon Master. James says he has to do his best for Jessie.

Exam #3: A battle! Joy has sent a Squirtle against the guy's Chamander, and wins. Brock cheers for her, and tells Todd to take pictures of Joy, and that he wants a dozen 8 by 10 photos. . . =) Ash and James are over at a table, where the guy is asking them to chose a group of Poké Balls. They aren't allowed to know what's in them. The guy says they need to know how to adapt, no matter what Pokémon comes out! They chose their Pokémon. Jessie and Meowth are watching the next battle, the guy, vs. James. James says this is for Jessie! He throws the Poké Ball and gets. . .a Pikachu? James says that he's been beaten by Pikachu's attacks so many times, he knows them all by heart! Jessie says thats pretty pathetic. The guy sends a Graveler! James has the Pikachu ise Thuderbolt, but it doesn't affect Graveler, and the Pikachu is beaten. The guy says James gets minus 1 point! James gets mad, and sends the next two Pokémon, a Charizard and Ivysaur! The guy says he can't use 2 Pokémon, its against the rules! James says that he never plays by the rules, and the guy says he's expelled! Jessie says that James failed! Meowth says not to think of it as failing, but just not succeeding. Later, when James is somewhere pouting, Jessie and Meowth tell him about their plan.

The next is Ash vs the guy. (They never said his name!) The guy sends a Flareon! Ash sends. . . Weezing? Todd takes a picture because of the look on Ash's face. Flareon uses Flamethrower, and Ash has Weezing use Smog. The fire hits the smog, and explodes, sending Flareon flying back. Flareon uses Leer, but Weezing uses Smokescreen, and Tackles it! Ash wins! Team Rocket is taking notes. =) The guy sends Jolteon! Ash sends. . .Arbok? He tries to remember its attacks. Jolteon uses Agility! Ash has Arbok use Glare, Paralyzing Jolteon! It then tries to Wrap it, but gets stabbed on Jolteon's spikes! Jolteon uses Thunder on Arbok. The guy says you should always size up your opponent before attacking! They both bring the Pokémon back. Ash sends. . . Meowth?! The Meowth from Team Rocket says hi to it. The other Meowth just scratches its head with its hind leg. Ash doesn't know any of Meowth's attacks, though! Meowth says to use Fury Swipes! The guy sends a Vaporeon! Ash tells the Meowth to use Fury Swipes! It tries, but the Vaporeon uses Ice Beam, freezing it solid! The Team Rocket Meowth gets really angry at Ash. It jumps over, and frees the Meowth from the ice. The guy says that he wants to catch this talking Meowth! He tries to throw a Poké Ball, buts its stopped by some vines and stuff.

Jessie and James say their lines, and put on their, um, normal, clothes. They're both angry at not passing the test. The guy says they should study harder next time. Jessie says there won't be a next time! And Meowth is mad at him for picking on the other Meowth. They still have the Pokémon, Charizard, Ivysaur, Pikachu, and Meowth! They tell them to use Vine Whip, Flamethrower, Thundershock, and Fury Swipes! The guy tells the Pokémon to about face! They turn around, and all the Pokémon, including the Arbok and Weezing, attack Jessie, James and Meowth! Ash has the Weezing use Explosion, and Team Rocket blasts off again.

The guy tells everyone he's sorry, but because of Team Rocket's intrusion, everyone will have to start over on the exam! The guy says Ash did a fine job of getting rid of Team Rocket, and asks if he wants to take the test again? He'd pass this time! Ash says no, he wants to get badges his way. Misty says the test was worth taking, though. Um, I can't remember exactly what happens next, but, then Ash, Brock and Misty leave, and the guy and Joy wave goodbye. Todd runs up, holding an injured Meowth! The guy takes it, and it turns out to be the Team Rocket Meowth! the guy says that now he has his talking Meowth! Meowth freaks out, and tries to get away.

We see Jessie and James in a forest. They're saying how they'll triumph next time! When they ask the Meowth if he has anything to say, they find out they have the wrong one!
