Dewford Town
Having passed back through Petalbrg Forest, you should see the boat and the house again. Go inside the house, and you'll find that the owner is the old man, called Mr Briney who's Wingull was stolen! In return for saving it for him, he'll take you to Dewford Town in his
boat.
There's not much to do here, there is a cave in the north of the town, a Pokémart, a Pokémon Center and a Gym. Talk to the man outside the Pokémon Center to receive a fishing rod. Fishing works slightly different in R/S. If you get a bite, you press A, and it's possible that the Pokémon will get away. If not, a battle ensues as normal.
The Gym leader, Brawly, uses some very strange Pokémon, although only the second should provide any real challenge. Once defeated,
the Knuckle Badge is yours.
Now it's time to go to the cave. Just inside, you'll be given HM05 Flash, which will be very useful as this cave gets dark on the next floor. Make your way through the cave, until you come to a dead end, and a man, who will give you TM49 and then leave. There doesn't
seem to be anything else to do in here just yet, so follow, and go back to the Mr Briney and his boat. If you talk to him, choosing the second option, you'll be taken to the next town, Slateport City.

Slateport City
This is another large town, which has its very own market place, similar to the underground path in Goldenrod, with people specializing in specific things. When exploring this town, you'll notice there is a large amount of Team M/A queuing up outside the museum, while another group have blocked your progress north. On the east side of the city, you'll see an old looking building, surrounded by boats. Go inside, and have a little chat. When your done in there, you'll find that
Team M/A have gone inside the musuem, so follow suit. You'll have to pay 50 to enter, but this is quickly repaid when the nearest Team M/A member gives you TM46 when you talk to him; he's the same one from earlier!
Head upstairs, and talk to the scientist. Two members of Team M/A will come upstairs at this point and battle you one at a time. When defeated, the Team will clear the city, allowing you to continue your journey northwards.

Route 110
You'll see a new Cycling Road here, but you can't use it just yet. Continue north, fighting trainers, until the pathway gets thin and there's water either side. Here you will encounter your rival again, and they're tough to beat. Once you have done though, you can enter Mauville City, the location of the next Gym!< Part 2 | Part 4 >

On Pokemon Emerald for some reason I can't save in between battle tent battles. Maybe my game's messed up. Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks
