MAP MODE

You won't get far up the scoreboard if you don't move from location to location using Map Mode.
It can be a little tricky to explain how it all works, but this should hopefully help you if you're having any problems.

STEP ONE:
If you're playing the Red Table, then you need to hit the Digletts three times.
If you're having a go on the Blue Table, then you'll have to strike either Poliwag or Psyduck three times.

STEP TWO:
Shoot the ball around the loop that is on the same side of the table as the Diglett/Poliwag/Psyduck.

STEP THREE:
Shoot the ball into the cave in the centre.

STEP FOUR:
You'll start in Area One. The first two times that you Map Move will be in the same Area.
The fourth and fifth time, you'll be in one of the Area Two locations.
And finally, the sixth time that you Map Move, you will always end up in the Indigo Plateau.

BONUS CAVE SLOTS LIGHTS

This is one of the easier things to do on the tables, luckily you can earn some pretty useful prizes by using it too, and you're going to need all the help you can get whilst playing this game.

Notice those four dots above the Out and Return Lanes? Those are the Bonus Cave Slots Lights. To light them, you just have to get the ball to roll over them. You can also move the un-lit ones left and right by pressing the left and right flipper buttons. This is especially useful during the short pause when Pikachu thundershocks the ball.
When all four are lit, the Bonus Cave will open.
To get the more rare prizes, light up all of the Cave lights more than once, without entering the Bonus Cave in between.

As I just mentioned, there are two different kinds of prizes for you to win; common and rare. The following is a list of them and their details....

COMMON PRIZES:
Small -- 100 to 900 points.
Big -- 1,000,000 to 9,000,000 points.
Ball Saver -- Turns on the Ball Saver light.
Bonus Multiplier -- Adds a number to the Bonus Multiplier (x2, x3 etc).
Dual Pikachu - Activates another Pikachu so there's one on each side.

RARE PRIZES:
Catch 'Em Mode Start -- Activates Catch 'Em mode.
Evolution Mode Start -- Activates Evolution mode.
Extra Ball -- Awards you with one extra ball.
Go To Bonus -- Sends you to the next Bonus Stage.
Ball Upgrade -- Upgrades your ball up one level.

MYSTERIOUS MEW

Believe it or not, you can actually catch Mew, but it's not easy. At all. Well, what did you expect?
What you have to do to meet this elusive little guy, is to complete the Mewtwo Bonus Stage three, yes three times. Difficult enough for you? Well, there's more....
After that, map move to Indigo Plateau, then you have a one-in-sixteen chance of coming across Mew in the normal Catch 'Em Mode. Not easy is it?

THE POKéDEX

The Pinball PokéDex is basically exactly the same as in Red/Blue/Yellow. And as you would expect, it's very simple to use.

The PokéDex lists the numbers and names of each Pokémon. There is also a picture and information on them.
Pokémon that you have caught whilst playing will have their picture that you unveil during Catch 'Em Mode when you hit the Voltorb or Shellder, or the picture you see in Evolution Mode.
Pokémon that you have only seen and not caught will just be their silhouette.

Oh, and two more things;
Hold down the START button to view the animations that show when you are trying to strike them with the ball. It shows the idle stance and when they get hit.
You can also hold down the SELECT button to show how many Pokémon that you've caught and seen at the top-right corner of the screen.

MASSIVE THANKS to Morgan Lamia for this!
