Stadium Stadium Two: Earl's Academy: Trainer Class |

Earl's Academy is a wonderful addition to the game which allows you to hone your skills as a trainer; even veteran players may learn something. You can either go to the library or go to the classroom. There are three classes in all: the trainer class, the gym leader class and the elite four class, which are basically easy, medium and hard settings respectively.

To get to the next class, you must do three things: attend all of Earl's lectures, pass an exam, and beat all your classmates in a Pokemon battle. The lectures will teach you something about the way the game works, from type match-ups to breeding eggs. After each one, you will need to answer a question correctly to earn a star. Remember what you learn in the lectures and you should be able to pass the exam easily, although you may need to check the library for extra information.

The battles are slightly trickier. There are two things you need to do, winning the battle is only half the test. You must also win using the correct Pokemon. On this page, I will tell you which Pokemon to choose and what tactics to use; the rest is down to you.

Camper Cole

Cole uses only Grass Pokemon, you must exploit that weakness. Choose Pidgeotto, Beedrill and Growlithe, and use Wing Attack, Twineedle and Flame Wheel to beat them easily.

Super Nerd Melvin

Melvin uses Fire Pokemon. The aim is the same as the first battle; exploit the weakness. This time, however, only Normal-types are available. No problem; choose Furret who knows Surf, Stantler who knows Earthquake and Miltank who knows Rollout.

Schoolboy Carson

You must exploit weaknesses again, but this time Carson uses different types; Dark, Steel and Ground Pokemon. Choose Magmar with Fire Punch for Steel types, Bellossom with Giga Drain for Ground types and Hitmonlee with Jump Kick for both Dark and Steel types.

Swimmer Clayton

All of Clayton's Pokemon know either Acid Armor or Barrier; your aim is to get past them. For this, choose Pinsir, Dragonair and Murkrow. They know Seismic Toss, Dragon Rage and Night Shade, which will all do 40HP of damage every turn in this battle.

Youngster Jonathan

Jordan's Pokemon use two-turn attacks like Skull Bash and Solar Beam. To get around this, choose Croconaw, Aerodactyl and Delibird. When the opponent starts to charge, either Fly up high or Dig down out of harm's way. Using this tactic, you should be able to beat the whole team without getting a scratch on your Pokemon.

Picnicker Cyndy

Cyndy likes the move Amnesia; to get by this, use only physical attacks. Choose Fearow with Drill Peck, Lickitung with Strength and Granbull with Return.

Lass Nancy

Nancy uses Pokemon who use Double Team or Sand Attack to stop you from hitting her Pokemon. To get by this, use Eevee with Swift, Noctowl with Foresight and Golbat with Haze.

As long as you win every match, you'll be awarded a gold star for your efforts! If you see a fire symbol next to any trainers, it means you didn't choose the correct three Pokemon, and you need to battle again.
