Known as "The Prince of the Sea". A legendary unavailable normally in Diamond and Pearl.

But potentially available to you as soon as you reach a PokéMart is this unavailable beast.

Confused? Shame.

Now, to get your Manaphy you have to have completed the main game in Pokémon Ranger. This will unlock the Ranger Net option on the Main Menu. Now you have to do something magical. Go to the Ranger Net main screen and hold down the R shoulder button, X and left on the D-Pad. And just like magic, an option to enter passwords appears. Now, depending on which game you own, you must enter one of two passwords:

• If you own the English version of the game, enter the code Mg35Cpb84FW8
• If you own the American version of the game, enter the code P8M29D6F43H7

Note that the English code IS case sensitive.

This will unlock the "Retrieve The Egg" mission.

The mission involves chasing Team Go-Go to take back the Manaphy Egg they have stolen. You'll start at the entrance to the forest. Capture the Politoed on your left (capture a Torchic while you're at it, you'll pat yourself on the back later) and use it to awaken the Graveler blocking the road. Beat the Team Go-Go member and follow the path, beating a couple more Team Go-Go members. You'll pass a Swellow along your way - capture it. You'll pass a "mushroom" that the Team Go-Go members use to find their way - use Swellow's ability on it to turn it into a Parasect, which moves to a new position. Continue to follow the grunts and you'll find yourself going round in circles. This continues infinitely in fact until you move the Parasect. Once the mushroom is moved, the grunts will take a new route allowing you to get them cornered. You'll then have to face a Venusaur and two Scyther, which is where Torchic's ability comes in useful. Beat them and they'll run away, and after some scenes, the mission will end, and you'll be given the option to transfer the Egg to Diamond or Pearl.

To transfer the Egg, access it under the Ranger Net option. You'll need another DS with Diamond or Pearl in it, with your game saved in a PokéMart. Go to the main menu on your D/P game, and on your Ranger game select to send out the invitation to receive the egg. Follow the on-screen instructions on your D/P game and voila, you'll have a nice Manaphy egg ready to collect in any PokéMart. Use it wisely - you can do this only once per save game on Ranger.

While we're here, we'll discuss Phione. When Manaphy breeds you get an egg containing Phione, and when Phione breeds (both can only breed with Ditto) you'll just get another egg containing Phione. You see, Manaphy breeds to make Phione but Phione cannot evolve into Manaphy. Got it? It's a strange world I know.
