This episode is essential viewing because: Ash loses to Whitney.

Our heroes finally reach Goldenrod city.

Que intro and title

Our heroes reach the city. Misty wants to go shopping while Brock wants to meet all the city girls. Then they see a hamburger stall and want hamburgers but Ash tells them they got to go to the gym. So they rush to the gym just to find its closed until tomorrow. Brock suggests they go to the goldenrod galleria to get something to eat but they can�t get to it because the city is so big. Then pikachu hears something and runs off. Our heroes follow pikachu. Then pikachu bumps into a clefairy. Ash picks it up to see if its ok and then its female trainer runs up to Ash asking if its ok. She then picks up pikachu and kiss�s it better. Brock bangs his head on a wall in hope that she would kiss him better but Misty pulls him away by the ear. The female trainer agrees to take them to the galleria and tells them her name, Whitney (This is a good time to use your know age of the games.). Brock as ever tries to ask Whitney for a date but Whitney ignores him and leads our heroes to a underground tunnel as its easier to get around underground. So they follow Whitney but end up fever away from the galleria then they originally were. So back down the underground they go. After accerdently ending up in the Pokemon salon, they agree to just go back to the burger stall but end up at the galleria (Finally!). Whitney then runs into the doors thinking they were automatic. Brock runs over to her. Meanwhile in the galleria Jessie, James and Meowth are eating free samples but get caught by some fat lady. They do a special food version of the motto, which goes like this:

Now you�re in for a bunch of trouble.
We re eating lunch so make it double.
To eat and drink to our hearts content.
Without even having to spend a single cent.
To denounce the evils for paying for food.
We wont leave a single sample uncewed

Team rocket love scaming down free sample at the speed of light.
We like to eat more then we like to fight.
You got that right!

The fat lady says they have to pay but Jessie says they are short of money. So they have to work to pay for all the food they ate. Then James see�s Whitney�s clefairy so they ditch the work and chase after the clefairy. The heroes meanwhile had finished their shopping trip with Ash and Brock having to carry all the things Misty brought. Whitney then notices Pikachu runs off again. Ash gives Brock all the shopping stuff he was carrying and runs after pikachu with Misty and Whitney. Meanwhile team rocket are looking for clefairy. Jessie spots it and then puts it into a bag. The heroes see this and team rocket run off.

Que Who�s That Pokemon?

Team rocket run into the Manet train station in hope they could get away but when they get there they find out from the station master that the trains aren�t ready yet so they get on a handcar (That�s hat Meowth called it.) and try to get away. Ash tells pikachu to not let them get away so pikachu goes after them but despite their best efforts team rocket aren�t getting away very fast. Pikachu goes to thunderbolt them but just before he does Jessie gives back clefairy. But then Meowth grabs pikachu with the bag and they try to get away. Whitney tells clefairy to use metronome attack and so he (Or she.) does and comes up with a gust attack. Clefairy uses the gust to take pikachu from team rocket and give him back to Ash. Team rocket try to get away but pikachu uses thunder on them. Then the handcar went speeding along since it runs on electricity there went team rocket. Ash thanks Whitney for saving pikachu and tells her that he is going to the gym the next day so Whitney tells Ash the shocking truth that she is the gym leader (I would never had guessed!)! So back to the gym they go for Ash�s 3rd Johto gym battle. Whitney chooses a Nidorina while ash chooses Cyndaquil. Nidorina uses poison sting but Cyndaquil uses flamethrower to burn the poison stings. Nidorina runs over to Cyndaquil to use a tackle but Cyndaquil uses flamethrower again. Nidorina faints. Whitney returns it to its pokeball. She then sends out clefairy. Clefairy uses metronome but ends up using splash attack. So Cyndaquil use flamethrower. Clefairy runs back to Whitney. Whitney then sends out her last Pokemon, Miltank. Ash gets out his Pokedex and purisms that Miltank is a push over Pokemon. Whitney tells Miltank to use its rollout attack. So she does and hits Cyndaquil. Brock warns Ash that Miltank is no push over. So Ash tells Cyndaquil to use a tackle attack. Cyndaquil tackles Miltank but it has no effect. Cyndaquil tackles it again but ends up flying. Miltank hits it again and Cyndaquil ends up flying back first into a wall. Cyndaquil faints. Ash returns it. Ash then uses Totodile. Totodile uses water gun to try to stop miltank�s rollout but it doesn�t seem to work. Whitney warns Ash that miltank�s rollout gets stronger every time it hits. Miltank hits Totodile and instantly faints. Ash returns Totodile. Ash then uses pikachu because Totodile got Miltank wet. Pikachu uses thunderbolts Miltank but it doesn�t seem to work. So pikachu uses agility but ends up getting hit by Miltank. Miltank hits pikachu again and pikachu struggles to get up but faints. Ash lost. Ash ran over to pikachu to pick him up to see if he was ok. Whitney puts Miltank back into its pokeball and tells Ash if he ever wanted a rematch just let her know. Whitney walks off. So Ash is left with 2 decisions: rematch or retreat (You know how it will turn out). So will Ash beat Whitney? Find out next time!
