This episode is essential viewing because: Professor Oak asks Ash to travel to the Orange Archipelago and retrieve a mysterious Pokéball from Professor Ivy. Ash's Pidgeotto evolves into Pidgeot. Ash releases his Pidgeot.

After battling in the Pokémon League, Ashco. have returned to Pallet Town for a big party. Ash says a little speech, saying how happy he is, and thanking everyone who supported him, etc. Prof. Oak thanks him for representing Pallet Town. He says everyone should cheer for Ash because finished in the Top 16! Everyone says hurray. Ash says the Pokémon should be thanked too. Later, Brock chows down, and says Pallet sure knows how to throw a party! Misty suggests that they bring out their Pokémon, so they can have fun too. So, Ash, Brock and Misty bring out all their Pokémon. Ash is also about to release Charizard, but Misty and Brock stop him. Brock says it might not be such a good idea. Ash has flashbacks of what usually happens when he releases Charizard, and thinks better of letting it out.

All the Pokémon run to get food, and Psyduck trips. =) Brock says Ash should be proud of himself. Misty says that it seems like hes grown up a lot since battling in the Pokémon League. Ash and Pikachu run off to get some food. At a stand on the edge of the party, its Jessie and James, cooking. Jessie says theyve cooked up a plan to catch Pikachu! James says its a hot idea. Meowth says theyve finally found the recipe for success-ipe! Ash goes over, and something not recognizing them, asks for three super size orders of everything they have. Team Rocket goes behind the counter, and begins putting super hot sauce on all the food! The plan is to steal Pikachu while everyones mouths are on fire from the food. They give Ash the food and he leaves.

Ash says the food should be enough to start. All the Pokémon look happy. Brock, Bulbasaur and Squirtle eat some of the food. But its VERY spicy, and they even breath fire and stuff. (I didnt know Squirtle knew Flamethrower... =) They all jump around, Brock begging for water. Misty has her Staryu use Water Gun, which cools them off. Ash asks what was the matter, and eats some of the food, also freaking out and breathing fire and stuff. While everyone is distracted, Team Rocket grabs Pikachu. It was Jessie, hiding in a bush. She moves back to the stand in the bush, saying that a Pikachu in the hand is worth two in the bush- then she hits the stand. =) She goes behind it.

Jessie and James say the motto, and the stand turns into the Meowth balloon. Jessie says shes glad they liked their recipe! Ash, Brock and Misty get mad, and throw the food at Team Rocket, getting it in their mouths, too. They freak out because its so hot. They jump into the balloon. They fly up, and dangle Pikachu from the bottom of the balloon on a rope. Ash has Squirtle use Water Gun, but it wont reach the balloon! Then Team Rocket starts throwing down bombs, which explode everywhere! Mrs. Ketchum says this is awful!

Ash tells Pidgeotto to burst the balloon! Pidgeotto flies up, and pops it. But then Meowth hits a panic button which somehow fixes it. Jessie sends Arbok which uses Poison Sting on Pidgeotto, and Pidgeotto falls! Ash catches it before it hits the ground. Ash gets out a Poké Ball. Misty asks if thats Charizards Poké Ball. Ash says it is, but he doesnt know what else to do. He tells Pikachu that help is on the way. He sends Charizard! Ash says theyre counting on it, and asks it to save Pikachu. But, Charizard ignores him, and looks much more interested in a huge pile of food on a table. Brock says its no uses.

Then Team Rocket start throwing more bombs. Amisdt (am I spelling that right?) the chaos, Charizard goes over to the food. But right before it touchs the food, a bomb destroy all of it! This really makes Charizard very angry. Not a good thing. It flies up at the balloon. They throw bombs down at it, but Charizard hits them back up wth its wing. The bombs destroy the balloon, and Team Rocket blasts off again! Charizard catches Pikachu as it falls. Ash tells it good work, and how hes glad it finally listened. Then Charizard fries him with a fireball. =) Guess not.

Charizard then proceeds to fly in circles around the party, creating a wind and breathing fire, and causing lots of confusion. Mrs. Ketchum says Charizard is the life of the party! Prof. Oak says thats not what he would call it. Charizard continues to cause havoc, and Misty says she knew this would happen.

Meanwhile, Team Rocket falls, and lands in the branches of a tree in a nearby forest. Jessie feels something poke her in the back, and James says it wasnt him. Meowth suddenly says that they chose the wrong place to drop! They find themselves surrounded by Pidgey and Pidgeotto, perched in the branches. Jessie peeks above the branches to see where they are, and a bunch of Spearow dive at her! She sees a huge flocks above her, and she screams as a huge Fearow dives down!

Back at Prof. Oaks lab. Ash thanks Prof. Oak for treating his Pidgeotto. Ash tells Pidgeotto he;s sorry it got hurt, and it nuzzles him. Brock says that Pidgeotto would probably stand up to any attack for Ash. Misty says its too bad Charizard isnt like that. Prof. Oak then says he has a favor to ask. He has a very important errand for them. They have to go to Valencia Island in the Orange Archipeligo. Everyone imagines going to a beach at the island. They need to go see Prof. Ivy (^_^ Hehehe) and get a mysterious Poké Ball so he can study it. He says that for some reason it cant just be transported to him.

Brock imagines himself surrounded by girls in bikinis, and says they should leave right away! Misty says her Pokémon would love it. So they leave later, and they say goodbye. Mrs. Ketchum reminds Ash to wear clean underwear, as usual. Soon, theyre alking through a forest. Ash comments on how quiet it is. Brock says its too quiet. Then they all see the flock of Spearow, and the Fearow! They Bird Pokémon dive down, barely missing them. Ash wonders why theyre attacking? then he realizes that the Fearow must be the Spearow he tried to catch in the first episode, and it has evolved!

Then the Fearow dives back down, grabs Ash, and starts flying away! Ash had Pikachu in his arms, and has it uses Thundershock, which also shocks him. The Fearow drops Ash, and he falls in the same tree as Team Rocket! He asks what theyre doing there. Jessie says because the Pidgey and Pidgeotto dont get along with the Spearow and Fearow. James says if they try to leave, theyll be caught in a huge bird battle! Ash says it looks like the Pidgey and Pidgeotto are too scared too fly away. From the ground, Brock asks if Ash is okay. Ash says that the Spearow and Fearow will attack if they try to leave. Misty says that they have to get to Valencia Island!

Ash tells Team Rocket that they can get down if they work together. Meowth says not to trust him, but Jessie says they should if he can get them down. Ash says that if theyre going to help the Pidgey and Pidgeotto, Team Rocket needs to get out of the tree, first! He jumps up and down, shaking the tree and knocking them off. Theyre attacked by Spearows, and are chased away. Misty says that they never get a break. (So true...) Ash tells the Pidgey and Pidgeotto to fly away while the Spearow and Fearow are gone. But they wont budge! Ash sends out his Pidgeotto, and tells it to tell the others that everything is okay, and to lead them out. It talks to them, and it works. They all follow Pidgeotto out. Ash says good job!

But the Fearow is following them! Ashs Pidgeotto turns to face it, but the Fearow attacks, and Pidgeotto falls to the ground. Ash runs over to see if its alright. Above, the Fearow is chasing the frightened Pidgey and Pidgeotto. Ash tells Pidgeotto it did its best, but its too hurt now. Pidgeotto tries to get up. Then, it starts glowing! It evolves into Pidgeot! Dexter says that Pidgeot can fly at twice the speed of sound, up to a mile above the ground! It says something, and Ash says that it wants him to come with it. He and Pikachu climb on its back, and it flies into the sky. Pidgeot uses Gust on Fearow, hitting it several times. Then it uses Quick Attack, going extremely fast (how does Ash not fall off?) and it hits the Fearow again. Ash tells Pikachu to finish it off! Pikachu jumps onto Fearows back, and fries it with a Thunderbolt. Pikachu jumps off, and Pidgeot catches it.

Ash tries throwing a Poké Ball at the weakened Fearow, but its still strong enough to fight back. The Fearow turns to attack again! But this time, the Pidgey and Pidgeotto gather around Pidgeot. They all attack the Fearow, and it flies away defeated. Later, Ash says goodbye to Pidgeot. He says it would be better if it stayed to protect the Pidgey and Pidgeotto, just in case the Fearow decided to come back. Ash says hell be back after they get the mysterious Poké Ball. Pidgeot flies away, followed by the Pidgey and Pidgeotto. And meanwhile, Team Rocket is still being chased by the Spearow. =)
