AshCo are discussing how long they’ve been in the mountains when they see a Murkrow. It begins to motion wildly and everyone’s trying to figure out what it’s saying when Our Dear Rachael Lillis tries once again to imitate a British accent, but only succeeds in making even an American such as myself cringe, this time through a young witchy-looking woman who runs up and is excited to see Pikachu. She starts to cuddle it while AshCo are standing there awkwardly. Misty asks who she is and she introduces herself as Lily, a pokémon magician.

While Pikachu, Murkrow, and Togepi are playing around, Lily is explaining how long she’s been looking for a pikachu. Ash tries to do an introduction, probably to explain that the pikachu is his, when Brock cuts in and starts to flirt. Misty then shoves him aside and asks if she could see some magic and talks about how she used to want to be a pokémon magician and how she loves magic. Lily agrees and starts to explain how pokémon magic is also a science. Brock then comments on how he’s never met a pokémon magician and Lily says that it’s become a lost art. She then opens a book, which is written in a language that AshCo don’t recognize. Brock says that it looks like an ancient language and Lily explains that it’s been in her family for generations. She then finds what she’s looking for and offers to make Misty’s skin soft and smooth. Misty of course accepts. Lily then combines earth dug up by a dugtrio, hair from a flaffy’s neck, and dried scales from a magicarp. White smoke comes out of the cup that the ingredients were in. Let’s go dugtrio/ flaffy (or was it laughing…I couldn’t tell) flaffy dugtrio/ make your magic now let’s go/ now magicarp, do your part. Lily throws some black substance into the cup and the smoke turns black and starts to cover Misty’s face. Spinarak come down and start to cover Misty in webs. Obviously, she is not enjoying it and Lily explains that her spell makes spinarak shoot a special kind of web that helps soften skin.

Later, Lily says that there’s a spell that lets someone read a pokémon’s mind. Unfortunately, nobody’s been able to accomplish it because a Pikachu has never been available to finish the spell with a thunderbolt. Brock comments on how much communication between pokémon and humans could improve if that spell were to work and Ash offers his help. She says that she already has a shuckle’s secret cure, powdered horns of a stantler, yogurt made from a miltank’s milk, and a flower that’s been kissed by a jynx, but she still needs some ingredients. For one, a parasect’s stun spore. Murkrow finds a parasect and Misty wonders how they’re going to get stun spore from it. Ash says that they should battle it. He then challenges the parasect to a battle, and is about to order Pikachu to use thundershock when he decides that that would be overkill. He changes his order to a spark attack and the parasect responds by using a powder. Murkrow blows it away and Ash gets annoyed at it, but Brock points out that it was a sleep powder, not a stun spore. He then orders another spark attack, and this time parasect uses stun spore. They collect it in another test tube. Suddenly JessieCo use a giant hand to snatch Pikachu. Prepare for trouble just because/ Meowth’s got Pikachu by the paws. Lily interrupts them and says that another ingredient is dirt from one of Meowth’s claws. She orders Murkrow to go get some. Murkrow starts to harass JessieCo while trying to follow Lily’s orders. Lily meanwhile is cheering enthusiastically while AshCo are staring at her awkwardly. Murkrow accidentally pops the balloon, releasing Pikachu and sending JessieCo blasting off again. While Ash and Pikachu are happily reunited, Lily is upset because she’s been looking for a Meowth for quite some time now. She starts to chase after the balloon and AshCo decide that they should follow her.

ULTIMATE ROCKETSHIPPY HINT IN THIS SCENE. JessieCo have landed precariously on a cliff and are trying desperately to not fall off, when Wobbuffet pops out again and Jessie yells at it. The cliff starts to crack and JessieCo all hug each other. James says, “If I never see you guys again, just know that I love you.” AshCo come and see their predicament and decide that they had better be careful so that the cliff doesn’t collapse and JessieCo don’t fall to their deaths, however Lily completely ignores the danger of the situation, runs up to Meowth, collects the dirt form his claws, and causes the cliff to collapse as she’s leaving. Who’s that pokémon?! It’s Dewgong!

The only other ingredient they need to complete the spell are tears from an aipom. Ash starts to call out for an aipom to appear. Misty and Brock comment on how unlikely it is for and aipom to just waltz in on them out of nowhere, when just then an aipom does just that. Lily’s eyes get all shoujo and shiny and she asks the aipom to give her some of its tears, freaking it out and causing it to run away.

As AshCo chase after it, JessieCo spy on them and decide that being able to read a pokémon’s mind would earn them a lot of money.

Later they decide to split up so that they can surround it. Ash and Misty go in one direction while Brock and Lily go in another. However just before they can grab it, JessieCo use a net to get it, causing everyone to crash into each other. While they’re at it, they also grab Lily’s book and ingredients. Poor little witch, prepare for trouble/ and now make it double/ to protect the world from devastation/ to unite all people within our nation/ to denounce the evils of truth and love/ to extend our reach to the stars above/ Jessie/ James/ Team Rocket magically blasts off at the speed of light/ the crystal ball says surrender now or prepare to fight/ that’s right/ Wobbuffet! Lily tells Murkrow to go and get it, but Meowth uses a mechanical hand to punch it, knocking it out. They then fly off, out of AshCo’s reach. Lily breaks down in tears and Ash promises to get her book, ingredients, and the aipom back.

Meowth is a bit disappointed with their heist and Jessie is complaining that she can’t even read what’s written in the book, but James recognizes the language as the ancient language of Pokémonia from the Age of the Third King. Jessie is surprised that he can actually read the book. James says that he used to spend endless hours at his local library looking at books such as these. Jessie is surprised to hear this and James explains that he understood very little of what they said, but he liked looking at the illustrations. Jessie remembers that the last ingredient is aipom tears, and she is about to punch the poor thing in the face when James says that according to be book, tears achieved through won’t suffice. They all try to think of other ways to get tears from it, when they all think of an idea at once. First up is James who comes out on stage in an orange kimono and starts to tell jokes in hopes of making it laugh so hard it cries, but only succeeds in confusing the aipom, me, and probably the majority of the other people who were watching. Meowth tries to get it to cry by putting on a touching puppet show, but the aipom just yawns. Jessie gets annoyed at them for putting on such lame shows and says that her acting will get it to cry.

AshCo and Lily are still searching for JessieCo when Murkrow spots something.

Jessie is acting as a princess who fell in love with a prince, but for whatever reason she can’t marry him. She loses the will to live and freezes to death in the winter’s snow. The aipom is so unimpressed that it has fallen asleep. Jessie is about to punch it in the face again when AshCo find them and demand that the aipom and bag be handed over at once. JessieCo of course refuse and Jessie calls out Arbok who uses poison sting on them. Murkrow knocks it out with an icy wind. Wheezing uses sludge attack and Pikachu uses thunderbolt. Misty and Brock meanwhile untie the aipom, who then runs off to a nearby cliff. Wheezing’s sludge and Pikachu’s thunderbolt are pretty much even, but Wheezing eventually gets tired. Murkrow uses swift attack to knock it out and Pikachu uses thunderbolt to blast them all off again. The aipom finds this so entertaining that it laughs really hard, causing a single tear to come from its eye. Ash tries to catch it but trips and falls, nearly dropping the container. Pikachu, however, catches it just in time.

Lily adds all of the ingredients together. It starts to bubble and white smoke comes out of it. Ash enthusiastically volunteers to try it out first. Shuckle’s shuck, run amok/ stantler’s horn and all the rest/ finish it off with Pikachu’s best. Pikachu finishes it with its thunderbolt and the smoke turns yellow. Ash feels a little bit like he’s getting inside Pikachu’s mind, but when the smoke completely covers him, Lily, Misty, and Brock notice that something’s gone really wrong. Ash asks why everyone’s looking at him like he’s got two heads and Misty says that he’s only got one, but shows him a mirror. Ash yells because he has been turned into a Pikachu! Unfortunately the spell goes on to the next page, which has been too smudged up to read. Luckily, all spells wear off eventually, so Ash will return to normal. That said, Ash decides to play with all of the other pokémon and Brock and Misty make comments on how Ash really is acting like a pikachu.
