It looks as if Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire- the next generation of Pokémon games will not link up to previous Pokémon games.

The world of Pokémon is in shock tonight, as it is revealed on the Japanese Pokémon Center website that communication between the old generation of Pokémon games and the new ones will be impossible.

To quote precisely, "As for the game boy advance software, the game boy * game boy color software (pocket monster red * green * blue * ¥Ô¥«¥Á¥å¥¦ * gold & silver * crystal version) with communication is not possible."

In other words, no trading the Pokémon you spent ages training to the new games. This ain't a joke sonny.

This is the final confirmation to something that has long been dreaded by the online Pokémon community- the signs all pointed to this.

For example, the Game Boy Advance and Game Boy Color link cables are incompatible due to their being a bump on top- and there are probably technical reasons too. Trading TM's could also have been a problem.

What does this mean for Pokémon? With the non-trading does it mean that all the current Pokémon will be on the two new carts? Or maybe none of the old Pokémon will return, afterall there has not been a single piece of RS material with old Pokémon on- maybe they want to start the Pokémon legend fresh? Post your thoughts below.
