Oak and Earl will probably not feature in Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire.

Following a recent press release regarding the animé, it has been heavily rumoured that Oak and Earl will probably not feature in Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire unless there's a major change of cast before the games' release. As if there was ever any doubt, the Elite Four will present another five tough trainers to beat. It is unconfirmed who those trainers will be. This all adds to an unnerving feeling that all ties with older games will be broken - will there ever be a way to trade from the first six games?
