The evolution of Sneasel and the pre-evolution of Mr. Mime have been given English names!

This news item is more than 45 days old. Updates are unlikely and newer information may already be available.

At the recent "Journey Across America" Pokémon tour, set amazingly in America, an interesting thing has happened.

Merchandising, and other small insignificant objects have been branded with the names of the Pokémon plushies and "stuff" contained within them.

But the fact that people can remember Pikachu's name is not the exciting bit. The exciting bit is the fact that Manyula, the evolution of Sneasel, has been branded with the name Weavile, pictured below.

Another little fellow, Manene, the pre-evolution of Mr. Mime, has been branded with the name Mime Jr., pictured below.

So what do we think of these names? To be honest, I think they're awful. Mime Jr. in particular really is scraping the bottom of the barrel. These names are yet to be comfirmed by Nintendo, but let's be honest, nobody in their right mind would spend loads of money branding plushies with their name tags unless they knew the names to start with (although saying that, this is America we're talking about).

So what do you think of these names? Can you think of any better ones they might have used instead? Is this really going the be the year "football's coming home"?
