Different you say? UPDATE: We know what (underwhelming) change it is.

This news item is more than 45 days old. Updates are unlikely and newer information may already be available.

The game director of Game Freak, Junichi Masuda, wrote in his HIDDEN POWER of Masuda blog today that owners of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl will find "something different" in the games when they play this Saturday. What could he possibly mean?

Well, lets guess anyway with some bets.

2/1 - An Event

10/1 - Drifloon Friday becomes Starly Saturday

250/1 - Something useful

1000/1 - Free Cow

1,000,000/1 - Wild Psythor

So, what do you think it could be? SPECULATE TIME!

12 January update: It turns out we know now. The snow in Snowpoint City changes to look different. It's pretty, but other than that... well, rather useless, to be honest.

Disappointing. If I didn't respect them so much I'd be ordering an ion cannon strike on Nintendo right about now.

Oh yes, how terrible of him to give all of us something, however small, for his birthday. He never promised anything big, or consequential, so why hate him for giving us something? That's just pathetic and childish... But yeah, NatureMaster444, I read somewhere that there might be loads of other things like this built in the game to happen on certain days of the year.

Is the snow changing thing permanent? Or just a one time only thing for that Saturday because unfortunately, today being Sunday, the day AFTER Saturday, I missed it because I didn't know about it until now =P

Geez, you're all being greedy. He programmed a beautiful Diamond Dust weather effect for his birthday, and you gripe about it. It's his BIRTHDAY! If it weren't for him, you wouldn't have Diamond and Pearl. Anyway, like Hail, apparently it does have effects on battles, but y'see the thing is: There're no trainers in Snowpoint to battle, HA! serves you all right for being greedy! >.

I didn't know about this!! I missed it!!! Damn! But seriously, 'Diamond Dust' is a cameo/copyright infringement of SEGA. Sonic 3D to be precise, level four is called the 'Diamond Dust Zone'. It's kind of like those bootlegged chinese games, and to them I say the same thing; 'copyrighrt exists!!!'.
