And they look exciting!

This news item is more than 45 days old. Updates are unlikely and newer information may already be available.

To add on to the earlier announcement, Coro Coro scans have leaked, and it looks exciting.

Let's start with the scans, courtesy of Pokebeach: Page 1 and Page 2. Close-up: PokeCenter, Town, Some locations, a cave and the battle.

What's there to see? Well, a lot of it is, of course, up to interpretation, but we'll do our best. Perhaps we'll get some slightly higher quality shots with the upcoming Pokemon Sunday episode. Let's hope so. There's more coming for sure.

First, what stands out in the screenshots is that the angle is different from the fourth generation game, with the angle lower. While the Pokecenter looks to have a similar design on the outside, we see it from an angle and more from the front. Might we be able to manipulate the camera now? The tall buildings in the screenshot look imposing for sure.

The inside of the Pokecenter is somewhat similar to before, with similar cosmetic changes as before. The one floor design, similar to how HeartGold and SoulSilver changed the place of the wireless connections in there, is interesting. More cosmetically fascinating, however, is the word balloon setup - we can now see which NPC is talking! As if that weren't clear before...

There's a new building design, of course, in a new town, not much has changed there, a cave that's somewhat similar, and a new cycling road. The graphics themselves, while being refreshed, don't seem to be as much of an upgrade as previous generations have offered, possibly because both generations are set to run on the Nintendo DS. The angle change will, however, undoubtably proof to be refreshing.

As for our new male protagonist... White doesn't suit you, boy. Doesn't make you look very masculine. I thought that might be the female sprite at first.

Next, page 2 offers a small insight into the battling system. No new Pokemon, but we get to see Zoroark's back now. Notable is that we see all of him now, rather than just the top of the Pokemon as previous games did. Just a graphical update, it seems, but one that could prove to be fascinating.

well, from the look of that battle screenshot, I think the battle text ("x used y" or whatever) will be on the bottom screen with the animation being used on the top screen as the words appear (thus speeding up battles). Sadly, it looks like we'll be having sprites (though 3D renders of all <stupid number here> pokemon probably won't fit on a standard DS cart. I would suggest additional memory on a GBA cart, but then it would put DSi users in the dark.

I'm a bit worried about this new '3D' take. Certaintly more advanced than gen 4, which is why it brings the thought to mind: can the original DS up to DSi XL be able to support this new 3D view? All I have is a DS Lite, and no intention of getting a new one as mine is in great condition. If not, I would hope that they at least make an alternative for those without 3DS's.

Besides that though, this seems that it will be a really great update! Looking forward to seeing the newest aadditions to the lineup!

The perspective is just... weird. I don't like the new angle but I suppose you get used to it. When I first saw the screenshot of the character standing in front of the house... I thought it was (original series/Johto) Ash. O.o

massively excited tbh!!!! on pokebeach a few people were maoning there's too many legendaries etc... but it's far better to have new legendary pokemon/elite pokemon rather than pidgeys for example as it means people will have more of a unique squad! here's hoping for some new dragon's!

Please don't be fire/fighting starters again!! We need a fire/electric. Also I think grass/steel and water/rock would be cool. More fossils and new types. They need Light and Robotic types. I just hope the 3rd game isn't Grey. Pokemon Chrome would be cool. Please be awesome, Black & White!
