Yes, likely for the last time in the forseeable future, Coro Coro has prerelease information on a new Pokémon game. Indeed, we dare speculate, this will be the last time they provide us with prerelease information on Pokémon Black and White!

This news item is more than 45 days old. Updates are unlikely and newer information may already be available.

Aren't they exciting times?

A lot of ground has been covered in news that we're trying to keep up with. As it's hard to seperate the wheat from the chaff, however, we're hesitant in posting to make sure we don't get you excited with fake information. Bear with us here - in a week, we can confirm it all using the actual games!

Coro Coro has ten new pages scanned in from around the internet, some with old information, some with new. For those who just want to see:

Page 1 Page 2 Page 3 Page 4 Page 5 Page 6 Page 7 Page 8 Page 9 Page 10

The left of page 1 shows a guy the Japanese call Geechisu, who's been seen before. He's part of Team Plasma. You first meet him in Garaku Town - which might show up on the page somewhere. We also see some of Team Plasma's members. To the right is N, who may or may not be part of Team Plasma, depending on which rumours you believe by now. He has a Choroneko, which is the dark-type cat shown in the bottom right, previewed in earlier pages.

The left of page 2 shows Yanappu, the broccoli Pokemon seen before. It also features the related Pokémon Baoppu, the Fire type High Temperature Pokémon, who knows 'Flame Burst' and who damages nearby opponents, and Hiyappu, their Water type Wave Splash Pokémon pal, who knows Boiling Water, which is a water type move that cuases burns. All three have Gluttony as their ability. Last, it also shows Emonga, the Flying Squirrel Pokémon we've seen before. It learns something called 'Eleci Ball'. Its power depends on the difference between its speed and its opponents.

The right shows Victini again, and reminds the Japanese players of the upcoming event for it. One of its attacks is Flame Sphere, which hurts all Pokémon on the field (including yours) and can cause a burn.

Page 3 features a number of previously barely seen and new Pokémon. First the left page. This features Basurao, a water-type 'Violent Pokémon' that can have Reckless or Adaptability. It has two slightly different forms, with Black and White each featuring a different form.

Yorterrie is the Puppy Pokémon with the red and yellow fur. It's a normal type Pokémon that can get Vital Spirit or Pick-Up. It learns 'Cheer Up', which raises both attack stats. I think it's based on a Yorkshire pudding.

Choroneko is the Bad Cat Pokémon mentioned before. It's a Dark type, of course, with Limber or Acrobatic as its ability.

Continuing on the other page, we find Desukaan, the Coffin Pokémon spotted in earlier battle shots. It's a Ghost type with the Mummy ability - if attacked, the attacker's ability becomes Mummy as well. An interesting twist.

Moving on to Ononokusu, the Chin Horn Pokémon. A Dragon type having Rivalry or Mold Breaker as its ability. Its new attack is Dragon Tail.

Then there's Denchura, the Electric Spider Pokémon. It's Bug/Electric type, with Compoundeyes or Tension as its ability. Tension prevents the opponent Pokémon from eating its berries, possibly causing it to starve. Poor thing.

Last for this page, the evolved mole Pokémon is called Doryuuzu, aka the Earth's Core Pokémon. It's a Ground/Steel type with Sand Gun or Sand Power as ability. It can learn an attack called Drill Liner, which has an increased chance of a critical hit.

Moving on to page 4, we first find Buffalon, quite possibly the most creatively named Pokémon of the entire franchise. It's a normal-type Headbutt Cow Pokémon that fights with Tauros to win Miltank's attention. It has Reckless and Herbivore as its ability. Its signature attack is called Afro Break, which either works as a version of Counter, or causes certain PKMN.NET forum members to be summoned and do strange things to people. Only time will tell.

The weird round thing with a hole in it is called Dangoro, a Rock type that's classified as a Mantle Pokémon. It has Sturdy as its ability and knows a new attack called 'Drop Down', a recoil move that causes Flying types out of the sky.

Mebukijika is Shikijika's evolution. It's a Season Pokémon that's a Normal/Grass type Pokémon with Herbivore and Chlorophyll. As you can see, its looks change with the season.

Tabunne is the normal-type Healing Pokémon, with Healing Heart and Regenerate as its ability and Heal Wave as move that restores allies' HP. They couldn't even be bothered to make it look much different.

Monmen is the Cotton Ball Pokémon, a grass type with Mischievous Heart and Pickpocket as ability. A Pokémon Black exclusive opposite Churine in Pokémon, the grass-type Root Pokémon, with Chlorophyll and Own Tempo as ability. The latter learns 'Clear Smoke', which resets status changes.

Last for the page, that's not a PokéBall, it's Tamagetake, the Mushoom Pokémon. A Grass/Poison type with Effect Spore. It surprises its opponents, and we know what some of those item balls lying around will turn out to be...

Page 5 features the starter Pokémon seen before, which were unconfirmed at the time. Jyanobii is the grass evolution, a Grass Snake Pokémon that's 0.8m tall and 16kg heavy, as always with Overgrow. Chaobuu is the fire evolution, a Fire Pig Pokémon that's 1m tall, weighs 55kg and of course has Blaze. It's Fire/Fighting, AGAIN, so let's all hope its final evolution switches types, as there's no real reason for it this time. Be creative for once!

Last, with that rant done, is Futachimary, the water type evolution, a Meditation Pokémon, no gained type, 0.8m tall, 25kg heavy, and of course with Torrent.

Page 6, alas, feature no new Pokémon, but show the first gym leaders. Yeah, three in one gym, Dento for the grass type, Kon for water and Poddo for fire. They are, as said, in Sanyou City. You will face the gym leader that's strong against your starter, who uses the elemental monkey discussed before, possibly as well as others.

Chaobuu is shown on this page as a recommendation to use against Aloe. It's part-Fighting, meaning that it works well against her Normal type Pokémon.

Page 7 shows some random stuff. With the movie 13 Celebi, you can go to a building in Hiun City to get Zorua. With one of the movie's shiny beasts, you can battle and capture Zoroark in a place called Lost Forest.

To transfer Pokémon, you have to unlock it in Hiun City by telling a character 'Everyone Happy Easy Communication' (a twist on the older 'Everyone Happy Wifi Connection'). This actives the Transfer Machine, which shows up on your main menu and allows you to get Pokemon from fourth gen games on your Pokeshifter. Other new options on the main menu are the Battle Tournament (battling friends) and Game Sync (for the Dream World), as well as the well-known Continue, Mystery Gift, Wi Fi settings, and Mic Test.

Page 8 is the last significant page. It goes in-depth on Dream World, which is a game you play on your PC after uploading your save game (somehow). A character called 'Makomo' lends you her Munna so you can access it. By playing minigames in Dream World, you can get Pokémon who play with you to come back to your game, as well as trading items with other characters. You can also find non-Isshu Pokémon in the wild here, such as Aerodactyl in the sky and Lotad and Magikarp in ponds. When you're done, these too transfer back to your game.

Page 9 and page 10 apparently reveal little new stuff, but they're pretty anyway, so we suggest you check them out anyway.

Generation 5 is really coming together well, imo. Buffalon is too good. I'd like to bet that Afro Break gets some kind of meme recognition, even if just a bit. Yorkterrie is adorable. Tamagetake is so cute, too <3 It's probably meant to be gen 5's Voltorb/Electrode as an itemball Pokemon. There needed to be one in place of Voltorb anyway =P

I'm liking gen 5. A lot.

It's pretty neat we're getting a Bug/Electric type Pokémon. I'm just curious as to what other type combinations will be appearing. Dark/Steel?
