Visco
This name works in context. I have a Zangoose named Ziggy after the famous David Bowie persona, and I figured that if I'm going to have a Ziggy Stardust, then I'm going to need a "spider from mars" backing him up. I named my Galvantula after Tony Visconti, the man whom has worked with Bowie more than anyone else

The Name Rater says...
Doesn't work in context because the name Ziggy sucks just on its own.

Khepri
Going on the assumption that very few of the userbase (and you, NR) have read the excellent web serial Worm, Khepri is the final "cape" name chosen by the protagonist, whose abilities include at the worst, arthropod control/vicarious sensing, and at best, include transdimensional superhuman control/administration. The protagonist's initial rival/schoolyard bully's only revealed weakness was revealed as electricity...Khepri sounds better than Skitter (protagonist's initial cape ID) as a nickname for a final stage evolution, anyway. A little unfortunate that I found out later Khepri was the name of an Egyptian Goddess. Meh. It's just a nickname. I just want an honest opinion on whether I've got any creativity/pop culture reference savvy.

I haven't read "Worm", and I also haven't read past the first line of this description. Uhh, your name sucks.

The less explanation you have, the less of a snide remark you'll be able to come up with in response, no?

So instead you gave me a horrible nickname and no explanation of what thought, if any, crossed your mind? Ooh, kudos.

Voltaire
Not only does it reference the unit for electrical potential, the Volt, but is also the pen name of a French enlightenment writer that was known for promoting religious tolerance.

Ungoliant
Or Ungol if male. It's the giant spider-like evil spirit from Silmarillion. Works better if it's a shiny since the blue becomes black. Oh all of the potential triteness and yet it's the first time this is sent at least until now.

Enki Durga
The name of Viral's Tengen Toppa Gunmen from the anime Gurren Lagann. Enki is a part of Viral's regular Gunmen. Durga is the name of an Indian God that has many arms. Sounds cool for a spider. Even though Galvantula isn't technically a spider. Or a bug. Just a furry thing.

Wellllll spiders are know for their poisonous bites that occasionally kill folks, and a kilobyte is only used in electronics. Rawr.

Galvantula
ACDC
Because of their song Thunderstruck, and if it has the ability "compound eyes" it makes it's accuracy increase than a normal Galvantula so the move Thunder turns from 70 to like 80 or 90. Eh, but I don't really need you're approval so go ahead and tell me: "Go die in a hole" and what not.

You don't need my approval? Oh well I am very glad, because I'd have told you to bugger off frankly and stop wasting my time.

Tetrawatt
Because it has 4 legs and watts is a measurement for electricity (if it had 8 legs like a spider it'd be Octawatt)
Fri 16 Dec 2011 17:32:40 UTC by BlackOblivion25
The Name Rater says...
I like this name, the watt reference is nice and it flows quite well. Like an electrical circuit almost. Bad joke yeah!

HaiRaising
This nickname works on multiple levels: spiders and electricity are both hair-raising! The spelling is due to the 10 character limit, and "Hairraisin" makes no sense.

So fearsome, the name had to be cut and doesn't make sense anymore. Whatever floats that boat of yours I guess..
