Southern Island
The first of two mysterious secrets of Ruby and Sapphire is Southern Island,
home to Latias/ Latios depending on your version. To access this island you need
one of two things: An Infinity Ticket or a Gameshark. An Infinity Ticket can be
obtained through the famous and increasingly rare Nintendo events. The Infinity
Ticket can be sent to another Game Boy by Link Cable, but the limit is 100
tickets per game.
If you manage to get your hands on one, then you need to go to Lilycove Harbour. Talk to the women and she will be at a loss for words at seeing the ticket. Then a sailor will stick his nose in, but don't be cross with him as he'll offer to take you to a hidden island in the South of Hoenn.
When you get there, you should see a path in front of you. Follow the path until you reach a sign saying: 'Those whose memories fade seek to carve them in the hearts'. What this has to do with anything is beyond me. Save now. Go forward and you get a chance to expand your marvellous team by catching a Legendary Pokémon: Latias if you are playing a Ruby version, Latios if you are playing a Sapphire version. Whichever Pokémon is there, it will be at Level 50, and holding an Item called the Soul Dew which raises the Special Attack and Special Defense of Latias/ Latios when held.
WARNING: YOU MAY ONLY VISIT THIS ISLAND ONCE IN EVERY GAME SO MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE PREPARED!
If you are not lucky enough to own an Infinity Ticket, but you
do own a GBA Gameshark, then don't despair. Put in the first code 'F444CA88ABDFE871'
to get the Eon Ticket in your Items. I am not sure where it will appear, so make
sure you are holding a bunch of rubbish items. Deposit it in your PC then take
it out again and it should be in your Key Items section. Now use the code
'0332305F41A5F851' and travel to Lilycove Harbour.
Mirage Island
I HAVE NOT TESTED THESE CODES YET. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!
Mirage Island is an island located on Route 130. It is occupied by only one type
of Pokémon: Wynaut. As for the purpose of the island, there has been none found
so far, except for the fact that you can get a special Pokéblock there
(Pokéblock no 36).
Mirage Island does not appear normally. To be able to find Mirage Island you'll need to have an Mirage Island Pokémon. Mirage Island Pokémon are found randomly in the wild. They could be from any species. To be able to trigger Mirage Island, you'll need a Pokémon which have a gender brake point stats. Pokémon genders are determined by a set of value. A Mirage Island Pokémon need to for fill that gender breakpoint requirement, which is precisely the transition value between a female of that species and male of that species. The probability of a Pokémon being an Illusion, depends on how high the percentage of that Pokémon being from a certain gender. In other words just catch Pokémon and hope for the best. To see if you have revealed Mirage Island or not, then talk to the old man in the house at the top- right of Pacifidlog Town, and he will kind enough to tell you whether he can see it or not.
