Diamond, Pearl and Platinum Battling: Pokéballs | List of Pokéballs available in-game

In Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, a whole load of new Pokéballs were introduced. Here is a complete list of the new ones, with the old ones thrown in too.

Name
Price
Where
Recommended?
Pokéball 200 All good Pokémarts In the early stages, yes, but in latter stages, you should be using alternatives.
Great Ball 600 Most Pokémarts Again, in the early stages, this is a good Pokéball, but can dwindle later in the game.
Ultra Ball 1200 Pokémarts roughly later than Pastoria City This is a highly recommended Pokéball for the daytime, with good capture rate.
Master Ball N/A Given to you by Cyrus in Galactic HQ, and winning the Pokémon Lotto in Jubilife TV Centre. There is only one of these easily obtainable in the game, so use it wisely, preferrably on Mesprit or Cresselia.
Heal Ball 300 All Pokémarts past Sandgem Town A good Pokéball if you want to use a Pokémon quickly, as it completely heals the Pokemon you catch. It does not have a very high capture rate though.
Net Ball 1000 Pokémarts in Floaroma onwards, roughly Good for capturing Water and Bug types.
Nest Ball 1000 Pokémarts past Hearthome City Good on weaker Pokemon (lower levels).
Dusk Ball 1000 Pokémarts past Eterna City Extremely good for nighttime capturing.
Quick Ball 1000 Pokémarts past Veilstone Department Store Good at the beginning of battles.
Timer Ball 1000 Pokémarts past Canalave City Good at the end of battles.
Repeat Ball 1000 Pokémarts past Canalave City Good for Pokemon you have already captured.
Luxury Ball 1000 Pokémarts past Snowpoint City Increases the friendship of the Pokémon inside it, so good for catching Chansey.
Cherish Ball N/A Obtained at a Nintendo Darkrai event ???

Well, I hope you enjoyed seeing what all of the Pokéballs do. I hope you use this table wisely, and hopefully, I will be writing more guides soon!

Nothing... it just holds your Darkrai. Heal Balls become no more useful than normal Pokéballs once you actually have more than six Pokémon D=
PsyduckRanger on Sat 25 Aug 2007 15:58:26 UTC.
This info is mostly wrong... The three main types of balls, Ultra, Great and Poké become obtainable in all shops in Sinnoh depending on how far in the game you are. Once you've seen Ultra Balls in one shop, you'd be able to get some from Jubilife City... However, for the Heal through to Luxury Balls, they're just available selectively from certain marts, the left (or in the case of the league, right) shopkeeper...

A good tip is to say gotcha into the microphone on the ds the minute the pokeball touches the pokemon your trying to catch. It works and i got it out of a game cheats book.

Is a cherish ball the same as a premier ball?
Richard and Blaziken on Sat 06 Oct 2007 22:43:55 UTC.
Cherish Balls have the same catch rate as Pokeballs people! You don't catch pokemon with them, you recieve pokemon such as TOYS'R'US Manaphy and Japanese Darkrai already in them. Cherish Balls are un-obtainable otherwise. Premier Balls are obtained when you buy 10 or more pokeballs at once, and have the same catch rate as a pokeball, just a different (and IMO cooler) design.

"A good tip is to say gotcha into the microphone on the ds the minute the pokeball touches the pokemon your trying to catch. It works and i got it out of a game cheats book." Are you fricken serious? I'm going to look like an idiot if I try that and it doesn't work..
Spiro T. Agnew on Sun 11 Nov 2007 13:35:25 UTC.
Yeah, seriously. Just throw the darn Pokeball, it's not going to make a difference. Once you select "Use", the fate lies with the capture rates.
ameiliaketchum on Mon 12 Nov 2007 20:16:00 UTC.
saying gotcha does help double the catch rate, i got that from cheatplanet and i used it and it helped me catch Mesprit and catch the lvl 70 Giritina with just one ultra ball. it was so easy...ppl in cheatplanet and other places say "its so hard to catch Giritina, ur lucky if u do..." and all i had to do was go through a stupid lil maze and throw one ultra ball and say "gotcha" and i got a huge lvl 70 dragon/ghost beast that wins so many battles... i love her...
