On December 10th 2001, London based nu-metal band 50.Grind (pronounced 50 point grind), took their first step into the music industry with the release of a song about everyones favourite pasttime... Pokémon!

What may seem like commercial suicide, could actually be a good thing! In my opinion (this is Psythor), its a class song. Much better than the mediocre Nintendo/Kids WB made songs such as "Together Forever", this song has an edge of "Coolness", featuring a band going as mad as you can be with expensive equipment. Oh yes, theres skateboarding too.

It also appears that Nintendo and chums have got their act together with marketing. Im writing this article 8 days before the song is released, using the free CD with the Daily Express as material.

From seeing both covers of the single (theres two editions for some reason), I personally think they e doing that bit wrong. What features your generic bits of Pokémon clip-art straight from Nintendos computers, should be the band at a skateboard park (work with me), playing Pokémon on their GBAs. This would work as we all know that the "fad based" Pokémon fans will buy it anyway, and older Pokémon fans, and their non-Pokémon-liking peers would buy it because of the coolness value...

I think thats all I can write about this pretty damn good song, lets just prey that other bands will follow suit, namely Less than Jake, we a re-write of the song "Liquor Store" as "PokéMart", and maybe Sum41 could do one too? Remember that you can click here to buy the song from Amazon, or if you want a "taster" first, then click here.

Overall, (bearing in mind Im a rock/punk/ska fan), Id rate the song 9/10, or 90%, or 4/5! PKMN.NET Seal of approval!
