Ash and Co. are exploring another of the Orange Islands, when suddenly, they come across a building on fire! Officer Jenny is there telling everybody to stay away. Ash and Misty decide to help, and send out Squirtle and Staryu, telling them to use Water Gun to put out the fire. They try, but fail. Suddenly a truck arrives. A fireman jumps out along with a group of Wartortle. The wall of the building starts to collapse, and the Wartortle jump forward and pull Ash and Misty out the way. Ash scans Wartortle on his Pokedex, and the fireman blows a whistle. The Wartortle all instantly start using Water Gun, and the fire is soon out.

The crowd start to depart, but the group stay behind to thank the Wartortle for saving them. The fireman introduces himself as Aidan. He tells Ash that the Wartortle are part of the Pokemon Firefighting Brigade. He asks Ash and Co if they�d like to take a look around the Fire Station. They all agree.

At the Fire Station, Aidan points out two other teams: Team Squirtle and Team Blastoise. He explains that although Team Squirtle are great for putting out fires in tight spaces, and Team Blastoise are great for putting out big fires, Team Wartortle are a perfect mix of them both. Aidan suddenly blows a whistle. All the Wartortle instantly assemble in a line and salute. Ash is impressed, and sends out his Squirtle. Misty points out how sad it looks � probably since it couldn�t put out the fire, itself. It�s then that Squirtle takes out and puts on THOSE sunglasses. Tracey�s confused about what Misty means, so Ash explains that a long time ago when it was with the Squirtle Squad, they all put out a big fire. Tracey then realises that Squirtle�s pride must have been hurt. Ash asks Aidan if to raise Squirtle�s spirits, it could compete against a member of Team Wartortle. Aidan eventually agrees.

Just before the two Pokemon start a race, we see Team Rocket in a nearby bush, planning to steal Pikachu, Squirtle and Wartortle. Anyway, Aidan blows a whistle and the race begins! Squirtle takes an early lead but Wartortle soon catches up. It�s neck and neck, when Squirtle suddenly trips over a rock. Squirtle goes flying into Wartortle, and they both go rolling over the finish line together.

Aidan then leads them all to a Frisbee... thing. It fires Frisbee�s into the air, and the Pokemon have to hit them using Water Gun. The machine fires one out, but everybody misses it and it starts to fly away. Everybody chases it... all falls into a big hole! As usual, Team Rocket appear and start to fly away in their balloon, with all the Squirtle and Wartortle in a net beneath! Team Rocket say their motto, and Meowth uses one of those silly extendable arms to grab Pikachu from Ash and put him into an electric-proof jar! James sends out Wheezing and uses Smokescreen. Tracey sends out Scyther and uses Swords Dance to blow away the Smokescreen, but by the time the smoke has cleared it�s already too late, and Team Rocket have made their escape.

Team Rocket land near a little log cabin in a nearby forest. Wartortle and Squirtle try to bite through the ropes, but they can�t. James suggests they keep one of the Wartortle themselves. They instantly start a big fight over who would get to keep it.

Meanwhile, Tracey has sent out Venonat, in an attempt to find out where Team Rocket have gone. Aidan suddenly receives a call from Officer Jenny, telling him there�s a big fire in town. She says that a truck has turned over, blocking the road, meaning the Blastoise can�t get there. She also says that Team Squirtle are there, but can�t put out the fire � they need Team Wartortle. Misty decided to go to help, along with Marill and Scyther. Venonat suddenly spots the log cabin where Team Rocket are, and so the gang head off there.

Team Rocket are still fighting, and fail to notice that all the Wartortle (and Squirtle) are using Water Gun and filling the cabin up with water. The walls suddenly burst and working together, the Squirtle and Wartortle start running out of the building. Meowth tries to stop them, but accidentally cuts the net instead. Right on cue, the gang arrive. Ash frees Pikachu from the jar, and together with the help of Squirtle and Wartortle, sends Team Rocket "Blasting Off Again!"

At the burning building, Marill and Staryu are helping the Squirtle to fight the fire, but they�re still not having much luck. Scyther is breaking pieces of rubble as they fall from the building. One suddenly heads for Misty, but is deflected by Squirtle and Team Wartortle as they arrive. Suddenly, they hear a cry from somewhere above. A boy is trapped in the burning building! Squirtle and a Wartortle both jump onto the back of a Blastoise (who have also just arrived) and Blastoise fires them up to the boy. The boy climbs onto Wartortle's back, and they all make it out safely. With a combined effort, the fire is then put out successfully.

The next day, after a huge thanks from the boys mum, Squirtle and Wartortle shake hands, as the gang set off for their next adventure...
