This episode is essential viewing because: Misty catches a Poliwag.

The episode begins with Ash and Pikachu sitting by the shore on an island. Ash is talking about how far he came and that he is on fire. Then a wave comes up and them both off! Ash runs off back to camp. Tracy is observing a huge Vileplume. As Ash runs, up he trips on a rock and both Ash and Tracys' heads get stuck inside Vileplume's flower. Ash tells Pikachu to get Misty. Pikachu looks for Misty and shows her is impression of Ash. Misty works out something has happened. She discovers they have breathed in the parylizing Stun spore.

Elsewhere on the island, Team Rocket have aquired an abandoned cabin. Jessie also breathed in Stun spore and is acting really dramatic, as if she's on her death bed. James remembers when he was a young he breathed stun spore and his grandfather boiled some Salvaio weed that made him feelt a lot better. Jessie demands James and Meowth to get her the weed. Ash and co. have also got a cabin (Who would just abandon all these log cabins?) and Misty is taking care of the Ash and Tracy. They are both covered with blankets and are shaking.

Misty doesn't have any antidote and the nearest Poke center is on another island. Tracey tells her, in a weak voice, to look in Ash's pokedex. She looks up Vileplums and Stun Spore cures. She discovers that boiled Salvaio weed can cure stun spore. They could be found in ponds were Poliwag live. She tells Pikachu to take care of the invalids and heads off to looks for Salvaio weed.

James and Meowth are looking for the weed and find a Poliwag with the weed stuck on it's tail. They try to catch it but the Poliwag runs away. Misty encounters the Poliwag as it flees, along with James, and Meowth. They demand that she hand over the Poliwag. It tells Misty it doesn't want to go so she defends it. James sends out Victreebel and Misty uses Goldeen. Victreebel uses razor leaf but Goldeen beats it with Tackle and Fury Attack. James recalls Victreebel and sends out Weezing. Misty uses Staryu. They both use Tackle then Weezing uses Smog. Staryu fights back with Double Edge, knocking out Weezing.

Next it's Psyduck versus Meowth! Psyduck gets a headache when Meowth bites it's . It uses Confusion. Meowth comes up with a plan. So, Misty asks Poliwag where she can find some Salvaio weed. Poliwag leads her to the bottom of the pond where she gets more than enough Salvaio weed but Poliwag wants to play. She invites it to come meet Ash and Tracy. As they walk along, Misty is telling Poliwag all about the Pokemon it was going to meet.

Suddenly, they see an expensive tea set in the middle of the road but they go pass it. They also go past make up and clothes. Misty realises Ash and Tracy will be waiting for her. James and Meowth come out and wonder why she didn't fall for what any girl would have wanted. Especially because they put things that Jesse would fall for. They disguise themselves a mother (James) and a baby (Meowth). When Misty meets them they tell her that the 'baby' breathed in Stun Spore and needs Salvaio weed to cure it.

Meowth thinks it's a sad story and starts crying and talking, blowing their cover. They recit the motto and tell her that they need the weed to cure Jesse and aren't leaving without it. Poliwag blasts them away them with a Water Gun attack. James and Meowth climb back up the cliff they fell down, they discover a pile of Salvaio weed that Misty left them. Touched by her generosity and say how lucky the twerps are to have such a kind hearted girl for a friend. Misty tells Poliwag and Togepi that it was fair to leave them some because they were trying to help Jessie.

Back at the log cabin they broke into, Misty makes the drink for Ash and Tracy. Cut to James giving Jessie the drink. As soon as she drinks it she feels a whole lot better. James and Meowth tell her that it was Misty's fault she's better. Jessie works out that Ash must also be sick and it's a good time to capture Pikachu. Ash, along with Tracy, are back on full form. When they arrive, only Jessie battles Ash. James and Meowth don't want to after what Misty has done for them. Jesse sends out Arbok. Pikachu Thundershocks Arbok and it's trainer.

James and Meowth carry Jesse and Arbok away while yelling thanks to Misty. Ash thinks thinks TR get wierder. Ash and Tracey thank Misty. But Misty says they should thank Poliwag. Tracy says it was a team effort. Ash thanks Misty for being nice to him when he was ill. Misty tells him not to get used it. Poliwag decided to stay with Misty. With Poliwag as Misty's newest Pokemon, the gang head off on Lapras to the Orange League Tournament on Pummello Island.
