This episode is essential viewing because: Ash catches a Shiny Noctowl.

The episode starts with our heroes in a forest. Pikachu hears something so Ash asks what he sees. Pikachu points to a birdhouse in a tree. Then they see a Noctowl fly over to it. So they hide so they don�t scare it away.

Ash gets out his Pokedex to find out about Noctowl. Then a branch moves to scare the Noctowl away. This confuses our heroes. Then another Noctowl flys towards the birdhouse. This Noctowl is a different colour to other Noctowl�s (Shinys if you ve played G/S/C.). Then a stick with berries on it appears towards the Noctowl. Noctowl kinks the stick and headbutts the tree to reveal a man who was hiding in the tree. The man falls and grabs on to a branch but Noctowl pecks his fingers therefore he falls. Our heroes run over to him. The man tells them his name, Dr Wisemen (4 kids never run out of names do they?). Ash decides he wants to catch the Noctowl so he runs to the tree that Noctowl is in and throws a pokeball at it but Noctowl kicks it and the pokeball hits Ash (Take that you twerp!). Noctowl laughs at Ash and Ash says it not funny so Noctowl uses hypnosis on Ash. Ash tells pikachu to come to him but little does he know that he is talking to a rock because of Noctowl�s hypnosis. So Ash picks up pikachu/the rock but is too heavy so he falls on to his back. Noctowl laughs and flies away. So Dr Wisemen takes our heroes back to his cavern for some tea. He tells them that he has devoted his life to catching that Noctowl (Don�t ask me how he can afford tea!). He also tells them about his secret trap. Ash wants to see it but Dr Wisemen doesn�t want him to see it yet. Brock and Misty say that a trap is a bad idea since the Pokemon would never respect you as a trainer. So Ash says he�s going to catch that Noctowl without a trap but Dr Wisemen says that dumb so they both argue. Little do any of them know that our favourite trio are on the roof listening to everything they are saying. Later Dr Wisemen is in a tree putting together his trap. Ash and co are hiding in some nearby bushes. Dr Wisemen finishes his trap and hides with our heroes. Noctowl reappears in the tree Dr Wiseman was in. Dr Wisemen pulls a rope to activate the trap. A mirror appears next to Noctowl and Noctowl uses hypnosis but the mirror reflects the hypnosis so Noctowl is hypnotising itself. Noctowl quickly hypnotise Dr Wisemen and falls out of the tree. Dr Wisemen runs over to what he thinks is Noctowl but its another rock. Our heroes spot the real Noctowl trying to get away. Ash runs over to it to see if it�s all right but Noctowl gives Ash a nasty look as if he�s going to hurt him. Suddenly a strong wind appears from nowhere and Dr Wisemen is out of the hypnosis spell. Our heroes then see a giant robot Noctowl with balloons on its shoulders releasing the air. On top of the robot was yep you guessed it! Team rocket!

Que who�s that Pokemon?

Team rocket go inside of their robot Noctowl. Ash tells pikachu to use thunderbolt on the robot but the thunderbolt gets reflected and bounces back at them. Team rocket laugh as their robot is made of some electric proof metal. Ash brings out Totodile and Cyndaquil but team rocket fill the balloons with air to just blow them away. Noctowl gets blown away and Dr Wisemen uses this opportunity to grab Noctowl and run away. Team rocket see this and use a bird like claw to grab Dr Wisemen They throw him away and use the claw to grab Noctowl. Team rocket try to get away using the balloons but Ash brings out Bulbasaur and Chikorita and gets them to use vine whip to grab the robots feet. Ash climbs up a tree near the claw and jumps from the top of the tree on to the claw and tries to release Noctowl. Psyduck comes out of its pokeball. Misty thinks it�s going to use its confusion but Psyduck just faints. Ash manages to open the claw enough so Noctowl can fly away. So it does. Team rocket are shocked so they throw Ash off of the claw (This is a good episode!). While Ash is out cold Noctowl tells Ash�s Pokemon something. Cyndaquil uses flamethrower on the robot. Then Noctowl tells Totodile to use water gun on the robot. Suddenly team rocket hear the sound of cracking. They presume its Meowth eating crackers but it isn�t. The robot is cracking up. Ash gets pikachu to use thunderbolt in the robots crack, which makes it blow up therefore team rocket blast off again! Noctowl tries to say something to Ash. Dr Wisemen tells Ash that Noctowl wants to battle him. Ash orders pikachu to use thunderbolt but Noctowl uses hypnosis and pikachu�s thunderbolts end up everywhere. Pikachu shocks itself and is back to normal. Noctowl goes to fly into pikachu but pikachu ducks and run. Pikachu stops running. Noctowl is flying towards pikachu. Ash tells pikachu to not to look into Noctowl�s eyes and to only attack when he hears the sound of its wings. So pikachu closes his eyes, waits and at the right moment thunderbolts Noctowl. Noctowl faints. Ash throws a pokeball at Noctowl and Noctowl goes in. After a few wobbles it ends up as a successful capture so Ash does his �I ve caught a Pokemon� pose. Brock, Misty and Dr Wisemen congratulate Ash. So later Ash and co leave and wave goodbye to Dr Wisemen as they continue their Johto adventure.
