This episode is essential viewing because: Ash's egg hatches; it's a Phanpy.

Ash and company are in the forest resting after all a day of walking when something begins to shine inside the backpack of Ash. The light was originating from the egg that the mister Shellby had given him. Brock suggests that could be a sign that the egg was on the verge of being broken. The Team Rocket was spying them and they say that the Pokémon inside the egg should be very valuable and they plan to steal it.

The egg shines again and becomes a Phanpy! Ash looks in his Pokedex. Then Ash has to trap it but Phanpy wants to play. Then Ash removes food from his backpack to attract it. The plan functions but then two gigantic eggs appear that result to be the Team Rocket saying their motto. Ash tells them that they should go and that Phanpy belongs to him. Team Rocket disagree. Ash is maddened and orders Pikachu to use thunderbolt but before that Pikachu could act, Meowth gets to Phanpy with a hand extendible (the ones that use to capture to Pikachu). Pikachu uses its thunderbolt and besides giving him it to Team Rocket, the thunderbolt was passed through the hand of metal and gave to Phanpy. The control of the hand is lost and Team Rocket go blasting off again!

Phanpy was injured seriously and it flees to the forest. Pikachu felt very badly therefore it thinks it was its fault. Ash, Brock and Misty cheer up Pikachu!

Ash, Brock and Misty decide to be separated to seek out Phanpy. Brock tries to attract it using food. Ash and Misty try calling it. Phanpy was found running and when it stopped realized that was alone and hungry. Just then, Phanpy perceives a smell to food and is directed toward somebody. The smell is from food from Team Rocket. When Phanpy started to eat their food, they tried to keep it for themselves!

Ash and company meet again. Ash asks if they were lucky and Brock and Misty respond, saying they wer'nt.. Then Team Rocket arrives with black suits and helmets. They tell Ash and company that they have Phanpy and its now one of them. Brock tells them that Phanpy will not obey any orders of another person that do not be Ash. Brock was mistaken. Phanpy charges to Pikachu and the Team Rocket traps to Pikachu with its extendible hand. Pikachu does an thunderbolt but the black suit and the helmet are electricity-proof. James chooses to Weezing and tells him that use Smokescreen worked and Team Rocket left with Phanpy and Pikachu.

Who is that Pokémon? Clue: The flippers of this Pokémon are extremely sharp. Is Seadra!

Team Rocket has Pikachu in a cage and iss offering with milk. James gets closer to Phanpy in the cage with Pikachu. Phanpy was on the verge of crying but Pikachu calms it. Pikachu thought to himself an idea to escape: The cage was at the edge of a very steep lowering, so if they managed to fall, the cage would break and they would remain free. Phanpy and Pikachu push several times until the cage falls. Just as it had thought, the cage broke. The noise of the cage made Team Rocket realized. Phanpy and Pikachu begin to run and the Team Rocket chased them. Pikachu and Phanpy arrive at a very fast river with some stones.

Team Rocket corners Pikachu and Phanpy. Pikachu jumps to a stone. Phanpy follows it. Of the other side of the river is Ash and company. Pikachu jumps to the following stone and when Phanpy falls in to the river. Pikachu tries to rescue it. Pikachu could not maintain itself and was carried with the current along with Phanpy. To some meters there was a great waterfall (they cannot invent another thing?) Pikachu maintains itself of a stone. Ash was too far to reach them so thinks to rescue them.

Ash sees that over where they were Pikachu and Phanpy there was a branch of a tree. So he takes a strap of hes backpack and climbs for the branch. Ash throws the strap to Pikachu but it could not reach. Anoter branch falls into the water. Then Ash itself cluster of the tree and gets to Pikachu. Ash rises to Pikachu to the rock of that Pikachu that was holding onto. Phanpy itself loose and Ash is thrown to save it. Ash, Pikachu and Phanphy fall down the waterfl., Ash throws the strap and Misty and Brock catch it. Fortunately they manage to rise them.

When they were recovering, Team Rocket arrives. Jessie and James choose to Arbok and Wheezing. Phanpy wanted to fight so Ash ordered to use roll out which sent to Arbok and Wheezing of return to Team Rocket. Weezing used its Smokescreen. Jessie ordered Arbok to attack but Pikachu use their thunderbolt that did not affect neither to Jessie neither to James therefore had positions their suits to test of the electricity. Nevertheless, yes it affected to Arbok, Wheezing, Meowth and Woobuffet. Team Rocket has been conquered again. Ash congratulates Phanpy him that he is anxious to see it in a battle of a gym.

Now, Ash, Brock and Misty get back on there way to the next town, so Ash could achieve another badge.
