AshCo are at the pokémon center. Misty and Brock ask Ash how he plans to battle Pryce and Ash says that he’ll use Cyndaquil as part of a “Perfect Plan of Attack”. Unfortunately, he hasn’t thought of any more details than that.

Pryce is outside of the gym with Piloswine when Sheila comes. They have a short conversation about how Pryce’s heart has melted just like Piloswine (or something like that) when Ash comes by.

JessieCo are spying on them, surprised to learn that Pryce is a gym leader. They plan to steal all of his ice pokémon.

Pryce shows AshCo the Mahogany Gym battlefield, which is basically an ice field with a pool in the middle. Ash is about to send out Cyndaquil when Brock points out that there is no judge. Sheila then explains that she is the judge along with a little bragging. Ash then sends out Cyndaquil and Pryce sends out Dewgong. Cyndaquil starts with a flamethrower, but Dewgong simply dives underwater to avoid it. It then uses ice beam, which Cyndaquil can’t dodge because of the slick icy surface. Cyndaquil is frozen and Pryce orders an aurora beam, but Ash tells Cyndaquil to use its flame to melt the ice, and Cyndaquil dodges just in time. Ash orders Cyndaquil to use its flamethrower again, which Dewgong dodges by going underwater again. Ash orders Cyndaquil to follow it. Pryce thinks that Ash has made a fatal mistake, but Ash has a plan. Pryce orders Dewgong to use head-butt because it is much more agile than Cyndaquil underwater, but Ash tells Cyndaquil to use swift at the last moment. This forces Dewgong out of the water and Ash and Cyndaquil end it with flamethrower. Misty thinks that Ash had taken a major chance on that strategy, but Brock and Pryce both make comments on how much trust Ash had with Cyndaquil and Ash wasn’t really taking a chance.

All of Pryce’s pokémon are asleep, so JessieCo make plans on opening an ice cream chain. Meowth tries to steal one of the seel, but accidentally slips and wakes everyone up. They all get angry with JessieCo and freeze them in a huge block of ice. Who’s that pokémon?! It’s Weedle!!

Pryce sends out Piloswine, who is just as clumsy in the water as Cyndaquil, next. It easily defeats Cyndaquil with a blizzard, which also froze the pool in the middle. Ash sends out Pikachu next. Pryce orders fury while Ash tells Pikachu to use agility and then thunderbolt, but Pikachu keeps slipping and falling. Piloswine uses blizzard again. Ash orders a thunder, but all that does is stop the blizzard and doesn’t seem to have much effect on Piloswine. Ash sees Pikachu crash into one of the ice pillars and gets an idea. He orders Pikachu to use agility again. Everyone is surprised at this and Pryce orders a concentrated blizzard. Ash orders Pikachu to SLIDE away and they keep changing direction and dodging concentrated blizzards by using the ice pillars. Pikachu finally slides under Piloswine and uses a thunderbolt, which deals a good bit of damage. Pryce orders Piloswine to use rest. Ash orders a quick attack but Piloswine wakes up before the attack can connect and uses fury (oww…that looks extremely painful) and take down. Ash orders a quick attack and thunderbolt, but Piloswine is just too strong. Piloswine uses take down again, but Pikachu jumps on its face and uses thunder. That breaks the ice underneath Piloswine, causing it to get soaking wet. Pikachu uses another thunderbolt. Even though the water gave him an advantage, Piloswine still looks like it can take quite a bit more. It uses fury again. Pikachu uses another thunderbolt. Pryce sees how much pain Piloswine is being put through and even though it can still probably battle, Pryce surrenders before Pikachu can use another attack. Pryce gives the Glacier Badge to Ash, who reluctantly accepts. They all decide to head off to Blackthorn after that. Everyone says his or her goodbyes when AshCo leave Mahogany.

JessieCo are still trapped in the ice and Jessie says that by her calculations, the sun should melt the ice in about two hours. James makes a comment on Jessie being an ice queen and the episode ends.
