AshCo have arrived at the pokémon center where a battle is taking place. A boy with a poliwrath is facing someone Mason with a hitmontop. Hitmontop uses triple kick, but poliwrath simply dodges it and uses doubleslap. Misty is cheering for poliwrath and Brock and Ash make comments on how Misty always sides with water pokémon. Poliwrath uses submission, knocking hitmontop out. The kid with the poliwrath asks who else wants to challenge him after six victories in a row. Ash challenges him, but Misty also wants to battle him. They start to argue, but the boy says that he can battle both of them. Ash says that he will let Misty battle first as it will not take long. Misty yells at him for implying that she’ll lose, but then lets it go surprisingly quickly. The match starts: poliwhirl vs. poliwrath. They both start off with watergun, which draws. Misty tells poliwhirl to use watergun, but poliwrath uses the same tactics as on hitmontop. Misty loses. Next up is Ash’s bayleef vs. poliwrath. Bayleef uses razor leaf, and poliwrath uses the same tactics yet again (dodge then doubleslap). Misty is worried about poliwhirl, but it seems fine. She starts talking about how it will evolve one day and become a poliwrath, too. Bayleef uses body slam, but poliwrath stands its ground. They wrestle for a little while.
JessieCo are spying on them, but Jessie wants the poliwrath this time instead of pikachu. She says that they have to capture poliwrath, who is more powerful than pikachu, in order to capture pikachu. James and meowth like the plan.
Ash and the boy each order another attack, but Brock declares the match a draw. Ash and the boy get annoyed, but Brock points out the fact that both poliwrath and bayleef are tired. They decide that Brock may be right and the boy introduces himself as Delaney. They all do their introductions and decide to give their pokémon a rest. Ash accidentally slips on the floor that chansey was moping and several things from his backpack go flying. Poliwhril picks up the kings rock. Misty recalls it after everyone helps pick Ash’s things up.
Delaney apologizes for pushing poliwrath too hard when a fortuneteller greets him. Delaney gets a little suspicious, but then two farmers come by and tell Delaney that she predicted that the price of orange juice would soar. They started growing oranges and got rich off of them. The fortune-teller (Jessie) complains to herself about the farmers’ (James and meowth) bad acting. Delaney however buys it and asks to have his fortune told. She tells him that he has a good future except for one thing – his poliwrath is possessed. He asks what he can do and Jessie tells him that she can use her powers to rid poliwrath of the evil. He hands her his pokéball and she tells him to close his eyes and count to thirty. While he’s doing that, JessieCo try to steal his poliwrath, but he catches them. JessieCo run off and Delaney give chase.
AshCo hear him and ask him what’s going on. He explains and Ash guesses that it’s JessieCo. Prepare for trouble by predicting the worst/ and make it double because you heard it here first/ rest goes as usual. They somehow end up in their balloon and fly away. AshCo give chase, but end up falling over a hill and into a truck full of straw. Ash tries to use noctowl to chase JessieCo, but he left all of his pokéballs at the pokémon center. The truck stops and everyone gets out (strange…no sign of a driver) and run in the direction of the mountain that JessieCo disappeared behind. The find a pokémon center where Ash gets the Joy from the previous center to transport them over the phone.
JessieCo are gloating over their previous victory. Jessie tries to get poliwrath to obey her, but it doubleslaps her. Jessie battles it with arbok, but it gets knocked out with one hit. James tires to hug it and meowth tries to be friends with it, but the poliwrath also hits them.
An old man informs AshCo that three people with a poliwrath are battling and ursaring. Ash deducts that its JessieCo and they set off to stop them. Who’s that pokémon?! It’s pincer!!
Jessie is using a machine that forces poliwrath to battle against its will. It uses doubleslap on ursaring. Ursaring knocks it down and Jessie forces it to get up and use submission. It defeats the ursaring and JessieCo are about to use it to get pikachu. However AshCo arrive and they exchange their usual dialect. Ash sends out phanpy to battle poliwrath, but Delaney stops him because he doesn’t want his poliwrath to get hurt. Misty uses corsola to tackle the machine, then use spike cannon to get it off of poliwrath. It somehow ends up on Jessie and meowth starts to control her. He makes her use a scratch attack but corsola tackles her. Jessie uses tackle next, but corsola defeats her with spike cannon. Next James uses tries to use the control to get her to use flamethrower, but obviously she can’t, as she’s a human. Next he makes her use submission, which doesn’t work because she’s too big to use it on corsola. She gets really angry with James and meowth for doing that to her. Poliwrath uses doubleslap to get the machine off of her. James chooses victreebel next, but it just bites his head as usual. Meowth says some unintelligible dialect that’s supposed to be poetic. Ash uses phanpy against Jessie’s arbok and Misty sends out poliwhirl, who is still holding the king’s rock. It immediately evolves into politoed, who immediately starts to shake everyone’s hands and starts to dance. Misty makes a comment on how cut it is. Jessie sends arbok against it and James sends victreebel against it, but it just shakes victreebel’s hand/ leaf. Misty yells that it’s the enemy then orders it to use watergun. Victreebel counters with razor leaf, but politoed uses doubleslap. Delaney directs Ash’s attention his way and points out the fact that while Misty was battling victreebel, Jessie and arbok attacked phanpy, who is suffering under arbok’s wrap attack. Brock tells Misty to use swagger. Misty does so, which makes arbok and victreebel attack each other, releasing phanpy. Arbok attacks politoed as well, and Brock apologetically says that swagger also raises the opponent’s power level. Delaney tells his poliwrath to use doubleslap on arbok. Politoed does the same on victreebel. Phanpy uses tackle on both, knocking them out. Pikachu blasts them off again. While they’re flying, they realize that Jessie’s plan was full of holes anyway, as in order to capture a pokémon more powerful than pikachu, they needed to capture a pokémon more powerful than that one, and so on and so on. The episode then ends with all of the standard goodbyes.
