Why? Why not! |
Claire is a little late with making breakfast, but AshCo will forgive her because the food looks delicious. Claire comments on how cheerful Ash is and guesses correctly that it’s because he now has eight badges and can compete in the Johto League. Claire says that it’s actually Johto League Silver Conference. Misty asks when and where it will be held and Claire says that it will be held at Silver Town at the foot of Mount Silver. Ash goes on with his usual Silver-Town-here-I-come speech. Misty says that it’s still three months away and Brock says that you probably have to register first. Claire says that you register in the same place you registered to travel around Johto to collect the badges and Ash gives the same speech, replacing “Silver Town” with “New Bark Town”. Misty and Brock complain about how annoying Ash is being this morning.
JessieCo are of course spying on them and planning on stealing all of Ash’s badges. James and Meowth want to sell them, but Jessie wants to use them herself to compete in the Silver Conference. James and Meowth remind her of what happened in the Kanto League, but Jessie still wants to try again. While they’re talking that same Wobbufett (I can never spell that right) like hand steals all of their doughnut holes (funny, they look like potato chips to me). Wobbufett tries to see who or what it was and when Jessie, James, and Meowth discover they’re gone they get mad at Wobbufett, who adamantly declines.
Ash comments on how delicious that breakfast was and Brock complains that he took the last sausage while they’re getting ready to leave Claire’s house. Two journalists are blocking their way. They tell Ash that they want to interview him for a story and Ash is surprised, see as he isn’t even at the Conference yet. Misty tells him not to get a big head and Brock tells him to mention them. Jessie (one of the reporters) says that first they should take some pictures of him. She pushes him over to a white screen and takes his jacket off, telling him that the color doesn’t suit him very well. She then hands it to Meowth, who’s hiding in some bushes behind her. The other reporter (one guess as to who it is) gives him some robes and a king’s crown. Ash says that he actually looks pretty good in all of this stuff and does all kinds of poses for them. While Meowth and Wobbuffet take all of his badges and put them in a box. Meowth gives the jacket back to Jessie, who then gives it to Ash and says that the interview’s over. Ash asks why they didn’t ask him questions and says that he was all “prepared” and everything. Just like the good old days, JessieCo all cringe and start to shake. Ash asks them why not ask a few questions since they already went through all this “trouble”. JessieCo cannot resist the urge any longer. All right then prepare for trouble/ and while you’re at it make it double. Not you guys! Ignoring Ash: Rest is normal. JessieCo say that even though it wasn’t a clean getaway, they still got all of Ash’s badges. Ash checks to discover that they’ve all been replaced by bottle caps. JessieCo then run off and tell AshCo and Claire to have a nice day. AshCo and Claire give chase.
Wobbufett is carrying the badges in a box, singing a funny little song to itself. It finds a picture of Jessie and sits down next to it. It then smells something and decides to get up and investigate. It finds a whole bunch of cherry trees and imagines Jessie, James, and Meowth complimenting it on getting food for them on top of guarding the badges. It then starts picking the cherries while the Wobbuffet like creature is watching. Wobbufett then sits back down and those same hands come and steal the box. This time Wobbufett is quicker to react and catches the creature. It turns out to be a Wynaut and the hands were actually its ears. Jessie, James and Meowth come back and Jessie immediately demands to have her badges. Wobbufett panics and Jessie and James get really mad. However, Meowth translates that they were stolen by a strange pokémon Jessie doesn’t believe Wobbufett, but James asks what it looked like. Wobbufett draws a picture in the dirt. James says that it looks like his childhood nanny and wonders what she was doing here. Meowth translates that it was a blue color and Jessie and James deduct that it must have been a Wooper. They then run off to find it.
AshCo and Claire aren’t having any luck with finding JessieCo. Misty complains that running is the one thing that they’re good at. Claire mentions that if he reports that the badges were stolen, he can have them reissued in time. However Ash doesn’t want to replace them because they represent memories of the gym leaders and battles. Claire and Ash’s companions understand and agree to look some more.
Who’s that pokémon?!
It’s Steelix!!
JessieCo are looking near a pond because Wooper like water when they spot one. Jessie tries to catch it, but misses. James also tires, but it dives underwater just in time. Meowth dives for it, but ends up grabbing a big rock instead. They’re all trying to catch it, but it’s getting away easily.
Ash sends out Noctowl and Bayleef to help find the badges. Claire is riding on Dragonaire and Misty and Brock are looking for them together. Ash is climbing a mountain and gets all determined to get his badges back.
Noctowl and Bayleef have decided to split up. When they meet again they report to each other that they haven’t found anything. They then hear a very frustrated Wynaut and peer behind some bushes to investigate. It turns out Wynaut is trying to open the badge box with its ears without much luck. Bayleef offers to help and opens the box for it. Wynaut dumps all of the cherries out and Bayleef and Noctowl notice the badges. Noctowl flies off to report to Ash.
Ash is giving up hope, as he’s gone pretty far and there’s still no sign of them. Noctowl then comes to inform Ash that they’ve found them.
Wynaut is enjoying his meal and Bayleef has separated the badges from the cherries and put them on a giant leaf. Wynaut then runs off as Wooper comes running through the bushes. JessieCo are after it and they notice that Bayleef has the badges. Jessie demands that Bayleef hands them over. Bayleef refuses so while Wynaut is watching from the safety of some bushes, Jessie sends out Arbok and James sends out Victreebell, who, as usual, bites his head. Arbok uses poison sting, but Bayleef takes the badges and the Wooper and runs out of the way just in time. However, Victreebell’s vine whip trips her. Jessie orders Arbok to use poison sting to finish her, but Wynaut jumps in the way and uses counter attack. Arbok gets hit with its own attack and Wynaut disappears before JessieCo can figure out what it was. Meowth grabs the badges, but Ash comes and demands that they give them back. Jessie orders Arbok to use poison sting, which Ash and the pokémon jump out of the way of just in time. JessieCo use this opportunity to run off before Ash can recover. Ash chases them, but before he can find them again, they start to get away in their balloon. James says that the only way to get his badges back is if he gains the ability to fly. Ash orders Bayleef to use vine whip to throw him up to the balloon. JessieCo are surprised to see him flying through the air and start to go faster. Ash barely misses. Noctowl tries to save him from falling to his death, but misses. Claire and Dragonaire catch him just in time. Claire says that Dragonaire can probably catch up with them, but Pikachu tells Ash that he wants to help get the badges back. Ash tells Noctowl to get Pikachu to the balloon, so Noctowl goes down to pick Pikachu up. Noctowl is coming in fast and Jessie tells Meowth to go faster, but the engine (or whatever) is on full power already. Pikachu blasts them off again with a thunderbolt. The badges are falling in different places. Dragonaire catches one on its nose, Ash with one of his hands, Clair catches one, Pikachu catches one, Bayleef catches two, and Noctowl catches one. The one that was not found is the Rising Badge. Ash panics and they all split up again to find it. Noctowl and Bayleef find Wynaut, who has found the Badge. Ash them when they give it to him, but Bayleef shakes her head and points in the direction of Wynaut, who’s already taken off. Ash tries to look for whatever Bayleef was trying to point out to him when Brock and Misty see him and guess incorrectly that he’s still looking for the Rising Badge. Ash tells them that Noctowl and Bayleef found it instead. He calls up Professor Oak and tells him that he’ll let him touch the victor’s cup when he brings it home. Professor Oak tells Ash that he won’t be surprised, as he commands a lot of respect from his pokémon just like he does. All of Ash’s pokémon then crowd around Professor Oak to say hi to Ash.
Claire tells them how to get to New Bark Town and Brock starts to cry. Misty pushes him away and the episode has the usual ending.
