English Title |
A Crowning Achievement |
Ash manages to calm it down and Misty tells Brock off for making it screech. Brock quickly changes the subject by pointing out that one can hear a waterfall now that the screeching has stopped. They all decide to have a picnic beside the waterfall.
JessieCo are spying on them from the bushes. Meowth and James plan on stealing Pikachu while AshCo are eating, but Jessie is just eating something in the background. Meowth and James say that they’re hungry, but tough luck, Jessie ate it all.
Ash and Pikachu are racing and Misty tells them to be more careful. Ash falls off the side of a steep hill and crashes into a rock at the bottom. He looks up and notices a lake full of slowpoke. He also notices that the lake looks as if it’s been drying up for a while and the slowpoke don’t look very healthy. Misty notices a worn-looking metal crown sitting on top of the tallest rock in the back of the lake. Brock says it’s a King’s Rock and Ash gets exited about this, but a man and a woman beg him not to take it, as the future of the slowpoke depend on it. Misty asks how and the young woman says she’ll show them if they’ll agree to leave it alone. She says that her name is Alice and the man next to her is her father, Professor Tellisu. Her slowpoke’s name is Arthur. Ash and Misty introduce each other and Brock buts in with his usual flirting routine. Ash asks again about the Rock and Tellisu says that it’s part of a legend.
JessieCo are interested in the Rock as well, but they want to steal it for money.
Alice asks Arthur if he’s getting tired, but it wants to keep going. Arthur and Alice are really close. Misty asks why the water level is so low and Alice explains that an earthquake caused a huge crack in the bedrock, causing the water to leak out. She says that all of the wildlife has suffered, but the slowpoke have suffered the most. They come to a mural and Tellisu explains that it is thousands of years old. He’s studying it to see if he can understand the legend better. Ash asks what the carvings mean and Tellisu says that it tells of a legend of a special slowpoke who turned into a slowking thousands of years ago and helped save the slowpoke when the lake was dry. It became their leader and led them to a special paradise. Ash asks how it can transform into slowking when he always thought that slowpoke evolved into slowbro. Tellisu says that every once in a while, a slowpoke will put on a King’s Rock and get bitten on the head instead of the tail. Then it will evolve into slowking. However there is still one carving that is giving Tellisu and Alice trouble. Ash says that it looks like a rainbow with a comb on top. Misty says that that’s ridiculous, but Ash asks what she thinks it is. Before she can answer, laughter is heard. It’s Jessie and James, dressed as a king and queen. Bow to the queen and prepare for trouble/ crawl before the king and make it double/ to protect the world from devastation/ to unite all peoples within our nation/ to denounce the evils of truth and love/ to extend our reach to the stars above/ Jessie/ James/ Team Rocket shuffles the deck at the speed of light/ better lay down all your cards now or prepare to fight/ Hahahaha, that’s right! Obviously, they want to steal the Rock. Jessie sends out Arbok and James chooses Weezing. They order their pokémon to steal the Rock. Ash tells Pikachu to defend the Rock. Arbok uses but Pikachu dodges. Pikachu then uses quick attack, but Arbok dodges. Arbok does something (all I see are sparks that indicate that someone got hit and then a shot of Arbok doing absolutely nothing) and Pikachu falls to the ground. Arbok is about to use bite attack, but Larvitar screeches again, bringing the battle to a dead stop. Arthur, who isn’t bothered by Larvitar’s screech, manages to calm it down. While everyone is impressed with Arthur, JessieCo decide to use this opportunity to steal the Rock. Brock sends out Forretress to stop them. Forretress uses rapid spin to trip them up. Pikachu uses thunderbolt to blast them off again. Who’s that pokémon!? It’s Kadabra!!
Alice and Tellisu are grateful to AshCo for defending the Rock, but they’re still worried about whether or not the slowpoke will survive, as the lake will soon by dry and there isn’t anywhere for them to go. Tellisu hopes that the special slowpoke will show up soon. Alice points out a particularly adventurous slowpoke trying to get the Rock, but before it can make it, a shellder clamps onto its tail, making it evolve into a slowbro. Once that happens, it can never turn into a slowking. Alice starts to cry and Arthur decides to try for the Rock despite Alice’s protests. It gets close, but the shellder start to surround it. However, Arthur manages to dodge them all. However, when it gets to the next stone, it slips and falls into the water. The sellder try to take advantage of this, but Arthur simply uses its tail as a propeller to go faster. It finally gets to the rock where the King’s Rock is, but the shellder haven’t given up yet. They are now jumping out of the water, but before any of them can bite, Larvitar screeches, making them all fall back into the water again. Arthur makes it to the top and puts the Rock on its head, then a shellder jumps out of the water and bites it, making it transform into a slowking. Ash looks it up in the pokédex.
JessieCo are spying from their balloon. Jessie isn’t too disappointed about the Rock being gone for a change, as she is happy to see the new slowking, which she hopes to capture. They don’t stay out of sight for long, as Ash soon notices them. Meowth isn’t worried about this and he launches a net straight at Arthur. Alice orders Arthur to use confusion, causing the net to wrap around the balloon. Meowth has a back up plan – use smokescreen to hide what they’re doing so they can get away with more. This plan has a flaw, which Brock points out. They can’t see what they’re doing any more easily than AshCo, Tellisu, and Alice can. Arthur uses confusion to speed them up and they accidentally crash into a cliff. When they land, several shellder clamp down on their behinds. They let go just before JessieCo get blasted off again by one of Pikachu’s thudershocks. All of the slowpoke and slowbro are treating Arthur like their leader; so AshCo deduct that Arthur must be the special slowking. Ash wonders if it knows where the paradise in the legend is, but Arthur isn’t worried. He splits the waterfall in half using its psychic powers, revealing caves behind them. Tellisu realizes that that must be what the mysterious carving meant. Arthur leads the slowpoke and slowbro through the caves. Alice, Tellisu, and AshCo follow.
They come to a paradise in the middle of the caves. Ash points out that it is the perfect habitat with lots of food, a huge lake, and even a king.
Alice tells Arthur to be a good leader to the slowpoke and slowbro, then tearfully says goodbye to him. The waterfall comes back together, hiding Arthur from view. AshCo cheer Alice up by saying that she can claim to have a king as a friend and that she can visit Arthur if she gets too lonely. I’m on a Master Quest! Pokémon!
Alice and Tellisu thank AshCo once again and Brock goes on with his usual flirting routine. Misty pulls him away and they all say their goodbyes.
