This episode is essential viewing because: Ash continues to battle the the League.

Standing in the centre of the main hall, Ash, Misty and Brock look at a board in the air. It shows the 2 opponents Ash has to battle. They talk about the battlepoints they receive. That they receive 3 points for every win and 0 points for every loss and one point for every draw. Ash gets excited and then the girl that he has to battle later draws him outside.

She wants to have a practise battle with Ash before the real match starts. Ash thinks it is a good idea and they both send out their pokemon. The girl, Macey, sends out her fire pokemon Vulpix and Ash sends out Pikachu. When the battle was about to start a net appears and traps Vulpix and Pikachu. It seems like Team Rocket threw the net and they drive away on a bicycle. Ash runs down the hill to follow Team Rocket and so does Macey but she bumps into Ash. Ash then quickly runs after Team Rocket and sends out Bayleef. Bayleef uses its vine whip to grab the net and save Pikachu and Vulpix. Another vine whip smashes off Team Rocket into the sky.

Then Macey, Brock and misty come running and Macey is completely in love with Ash and drags him away. Misty gets a bit angry of that and tells Macey she heard that she hates water pokemon which Macey confirms. Misty gets really angry because of that and discuss about the fire and water pokemon which they love. When Misty asks what she wants from Ash, she does not tell and starts to talk with Ash about tomorrow’s battle.

Ash then calls Oak and picks up his pokemon at Nurse Joy’s. Ash wants to make a team but Brock and Misty think they should have more information about Macey first. They find out that she loves fire pokemon so they suggest that Ash should use his water pokemon.

In the meanwhile Team Rocket is selling ‘fake badges" to little children.

Ash then sends out Kingler for a reunion and a small practise but then a trainer looses his three Voltorb which roll down the hill and explode when hitting Kingler. Ash immediately brings it to Joy which tells Ash that Kingler isn’t able to fight in his match. Ash is sad about that until he sees Officer Jenny coming on a motor cycle with his old friend Squirtle. Both of them reunite and Jenny tells that Squirtle wanted to see Ash because he saw him at the opening ceremony. Ash asks Squirtle if he wants to battle and it agrees.

Then the battle starts, Delia, Tracey and professor Oak are in front of the TV watching the league and the battle begins.

Macey and Ash both appear on the field and the battles is announced to start.

Macey sends out her Slugma while Ash sends out Totodile. Slugma fires a flamethrower at Totodile which doesn’t hit. Totodile is ordered to use its water gun but Slugma uses double team and several Slugma appear and doesn’t hit the real Slugma. Slugma then fires a flamethrower at Totodile which does hit. When Ash orders for a water gun, Slugma does another double team attack but now the watergun of Totodile does hit Slugma. It didn’t faint but Macey does return Slugma and calls out Electabuzz. Ash also recalls totodile and sends out his Phanphy. Macey is surprised of Ash’s choice but Brock knew that Ash was going to use Phanphy.

Electabuzz starts off with a thundershock attack which doesn’t work well on Phanphy and immediately returns Electabuzz and sends out Slugma again.

Phanphy immediately uses earthquake which hurt Slugma badly. Slugma then starts off with a flamethrower but Phanphy rolls itself up in defence curl and the fire doesn’t hae any affect. Slugma then charges to use body slam but Phanpy encounters it with an earthquake attack which stops Slugma from using his body slam. Phanpy then uses take down to finally finish off with Slugma.

Macey gets nervous and sends out her Quilava. Phanphy starts off with a rollout attack but Quilava uses firewheel and runs at Phanphy with fire surrounding its complete body. Quilava his Phanphy several times and Phanphy faints.

Ash then sends out Totodile while Macey returns Quilava and sends out Electabuzz. Totodile starts off with watergun but Electabuzz uses his light screen which stops the watergun from hitting Electabuzz. Totodile then uses headbutt at Electabuzz but Electabuzz encounters it with a thunderpunch which hits Totodile badly and makes it faint.

As his last pokemon, Ash sends out Squirtle. Electabuzz uses thundershock to shock Squirtle but Squirtle fires a very strong watergun at Electabuzz which stops the thundershock. Jenny comments that the watergun is that strong because of the fire it has been extinguishing. Squirtle fires another watergun but Electabuzz starts to swing with its glowing tail. Electabuzz hits Squirtle with its glowing tail two times and it flies away but Squirtle manages to fire a water gun at Electabuzz. Electabuzz then shocks it again with its thundershock but squirtle uses its headbutt to hit Electabuzz and it faints.

As last, Macey sends out her Quilava. Squirtle starts off with a watergun but got encountered by a flamethrower which stopped both attacks from hitting. Quilava then uses swift but the little stars got destroyed by Squirtle’s bubble attack. A dark dust cloud appears when both attacks collided. Then a water gun got shot out of the smoke and hits Quilava and Squirtle appears too. It then fires a bubble attack at Quilava but Squirtle gets hit by a tackle attack and lands on the floor on its back. It cant move and Quilava comes charging at it. Ash orders Squirtle to use hydro pump and in circles it charges at Quilava and faints.

In the meanwhile, Team Rocket is happy when they sold all of their fake badges.

Then Macey comes running at Ash after the battle and her pokeball pops open and Slugma appears and starts evolving into Magcargo. Macey finally tells Ash that she loves him. Ash responds with I have to train for the next battle and Misty and Brock are surprised at that but wishes Ash luck on his next match.
