The Safari Zone! And it's filled with lots of different Pokémon. Ash wants to catch some, but they might still be in the reserve. A Chansey pops up from behind a bush. Ash is about to throw a Pokeball, but it turns out to be Officer Jenny! She says they're under arrest for Pokémon poaching.

She takes them back to the station, and Ash explains they didn't know they were poaching. Jenny says she'll let them off with a warning. Something starts beeping. More poachers! Ash says he wants to help, so they all get into Jenny's jeep.

Team Rocket is watching a herd of Kangaskhan. They say their lines, then James fires a flare over them, startling them. Ash says they have to stop Team Rocket, but Jenny says they should run. The Kangaskhan are stampeding right towards them! Jenny speeds back in reverse and turns so they go past. Then James activates the net, which captures all the Kangaskhan! They're going to catch all of them in Pokéballs. Jenny over-heated the engine, so she and Ash can't get there in time.

Someone watches from a tree. Jessie throws a Pokéball, but a boomerang hits it and hits Jessie in the face. A kid swings down on a vine and cuts the net with his boomerang, talking like a Kangaskhan. He says something to them and they all look at Team Rocket. They surround the car they're in and start hitting them to each other with their tails. A really big one hits them and they go flying. The boy jumps into its pouch and they leave.

Jenny hears something, a helicopter! It lands and a woman and a very scary looking man come out. They say they've heard that their son Tommy is in the Safari Zone. Jenny says they can explain at the station.

There, they say how 5 years ago, when Tommy was three, they had taken him on a trip around the world. But the father, stupidly, dropped the kid from a helicopter. He parachuted to safety, but he disappeared. They've been looking for 5 years but can't find him anywhere! The woman shows them a picture of the weird kid in the Kangaskhan's pouch. Jenny recognizes him as Tommy and that his address is in the Safari Zone listings. Ash and the others asks to help.

The father and the mom are now being carried by Ash and the others, because the guy is in bad shape. They see an injured baby Kangaskhan, drop them, and rush over. Brock uses a Super Potion on it to heal it, but it stings and it cries out. A boomerang flies towards Brock! He dodges and it hits Ash. Tommy says Brock hurt the Kangaskhan, but Misty says Brock was trying to help it. Tommo asks if they are people or Pokémon.

The father says they've found Tommy. He and the mom ask him to come home, but Tommy doesn't remember them. Misty tells him to try to remember. Tommy has an image in his mind of a herd of Kangaskhan and him in one's pouch. It's singing to him and it's a very haunting sound. Tommy gets angry, saying his mom is the Kangaskhan.

Then the dad hits him over the head, knocking him out. Tommo has a dream of him as a baby, being held by his real mom. He wakes up and recognizes her. The dad asks if he remembers him, and Misty hits him over the head with a log, saying one memory at a time! The mom says they should go home now. Misty says it's better if he lives with his real parents. Tommo gets confused, saying the Kangaskhan is his mom, but so is this lady! Jenny comes, saying the Kangaskhan are being poached again. Tommo jumps into the trees and runs off. Everyone else follows. The mom says they should give up, but the man says he's still their boy.

It's Team Rocket in a giant Kangaskhan robot! Jessie does an imitation of an injured one to get the others to come. The big one tries to stop the others from going, but they go anyway. James fires tranquilizers, putting them all to sleep. The big one tries attacking, but is also hit.

Everyone gets into the jeep with the robot still chasing them. Then a helicopter starts zooming for the robot. It's Tommy's parents. They crash into the robot and Team Rocket gets blasted off again.

It's a wreck. They sacrificed their lives to save their son. Tommy starts crying. Singing comes from the wreckage. It's his parents! Dressed in skins? They say that since Tommy loves the Kangaskhan so much, they'll stay with him here.

Ash and the others leave. Tommy, his parents, and the Kangaskhan wave good-bye.
