May is looking at her ribbons and saying how much she adores them. Max says that her mother and father will be so proud of her and Ash says that when Ash wins his Gym battle, May, Max and Brock will be proud of him. Max gives Ash luck, but says that Norman will be hard to beat! Ash asks Brock for water but Brock says it’s as dry as a bone. Ash, May and Max are shocked and say they are very thirsty. Brock tells them not to worry and starts running. Ash, May and Max follow.

Team Rocket are surrounded by boxes full of water. Ash, May, Max and Brock are getting closer. Team Rocket are setting a Pikachu trap.

Brock tells Ash that in this forest, is a fresh water spring and it’s famous. Ash, May, Max and Brock see a Zubat and Ash, May and Max scream, Brock tells them it’s only a Zubat. Ash is embarrassed. Brock notices a Solrock.

The gang run to check it out, only to fall down a hole. Team Rocket appears and catches Pikachu in a net. Suddenly, Solrock appears and attacks Team Rocket with fire. Ash gets Pikachu back. James tells Solrock to get out of here and Max compliments Solrock. Ash gets out his Poke'dex and checks it out.

The Poke'dex says that Solrock has the ability to read people and Poke'mon’s minds. James suddenly sends out Cacnea and as normal, Cacnea hugs James. James says that he would rather have a pin missile on Solrock. Cacnea uses pin missile but it doesn’t affect Solrock. Jesse, James and Meowth go to jump on Solrock, but Solrock uses Solarbeam on Team Rocket. Team Rocket go blasting off again.

The smoke from the Solarbeam clears but Solrock is nowhere to be seen! Ash wanted to thank it for saving Pikachu. Brock suggests finding the springs. That’s what they do, find the springs, but they don’t contain any water. Ash, May, Max and Brock are shocked!

May next notices a village. The gang make there way to the village and see that there is no water there. Ash asks Pikachu if he can smell any water and May says that Pikachu can’t do that. Brock replies that water Poke'mon can! Brock sends out Lotad and Mudkip and Ash sends out Corphish. Skitty comes out of its Poke’ball and May says that it can help. Corphish starts digging and Corphish finds some pottery. At least it’ll hold water. Skitty finds some flowers and loves them!

Mudkip finds a well but it’s dried up. Lotad gets on the bucket and falls down the well. Brock pulls him up and at the top, Lotad evolves into Lombre. Ash checks it on his Poke'dex. A lady runs to Lombre.

The lady is worshipping Lombre. May asks what she wants with Lombre. The woman corrects May in saying “That’s the Great Lombre if you don’t mind.” May and Max agree.

The woman says that when her village has suffered crisis and misfortune the Great Water Lord comes. The Great Water Lord is a Lombre and the village has suffered a drought. The woman continues to say that the wicked Solrock has caused the crisis and misfortune. The woman calls everyone to gather together. A young girl comes out of her house and instantly, Brock falls in love. Her name is Mary. The woman is Mary’s Grandma. Grandma introduces the Great Lombre.

Everyone rushes to Lombre, except Mary. Ash, May, Max and Brock ask many questions about Solrock. Max asks about water and Mary invites Ash and co into her house for water.

Mary says that they are in the middle of a water shortage. She says that the Great Water Lord Lombre lives up stream in a secret shrine. A meteorite fallen near the shrine, and a Solrock has been seen in their forest ever since.

The rains have stopped and the springs have dried up. The villagers are convinced that Solrock is the cause of the drought. Ash asks Mary what she believes and Mary tells Ash that it doesn’t make sense, there has to be a logical explanation.

Outside, the villagers are doing a rain dance. Lombre is also doing the rain dance and Ash says it’s cool watching them march. Brock asks Mary to dance but Max pulls him away! Pikachu starts dancing, and so do some wild Bellosom, Oddish, Seedot and Shroomish.

Ash and co start thinking. If they keep up their dancing maybe Solrock will show up, because a lot of other wild Poke'mon shown up! Brock suggests that Solrock may not come because Solrock can read peoples mind and wouldn’t want to come near a lot of people who are angry at it? Grandma says that they’re not angry with it, they’re just saying that Solrock isn’t one of they’re favourite Poke'mon. Brock says that he may have the answer!

Everyone leaves Lombre to dance on the shrine and everyone else hides. Just then, from out of nowhere appears Lombre. Skitty comes out of its Poke'ball and runs off, into a cave. Mary says that she knows the cave like the back of her hand; she pulls out a torch and runs into the cave.

In the cave Mary and May find Skitty and a machine. It’s pumping out all the water. Mary now knows why all the water is going. Team Rocket are pumping water into bottles and then putting the bottles into boxes. Team Rocket notice Solrock and Lombre together and they have another dream of Giovanni. He is washing his hair from water in Lombre’s head and then Solrock is drying it off with an ember attack. May and Mary find Team Rocket.

Back with Solrock and Lombre, Solrock starts dancing, but Grandma is eager to stop it because she thinks that it’s a curse. Solrock’s eyes go blue and everyone rises into the air. Ash tells Solrock to let them go and that’s just what they do. May and Mary suddenly appear and tell Ash, May, Max and Grandma that it’s all Team Rockets fault. Team Rocket suddenly appears in a robot. They do their motto. A net is shot over Solrock and Lombre but Brock tells Lombre to use razor leaf and it cuts the net over. Team Rocket isn’t too impressed. Pikachu uses thunderbolt but the robot is electricity proof. Team Rocket shoots water at Pikachu. Suddenly Solrock blocks the water from hitting the villagers by using itself. Brock says that Solrock should be weak because it’s a rock type! Solrock starts spinning and with the heat Solrock is giving off Solrock doesn’t stand a chance. A ring of fire/heat surrounds Solrock and Solrock knocks into the robot, sending Team Rocket back. Pikachu uses thunderbolt and finally it works. Team Rocket then go blasting off again.

Solrock is out of control and it is heading for the village. Lombre uses water gun on Solrock and so does Mudkip. Solrock calms down. Next, it starts raining. The spring starts to fill up again. All the villagers cheer and Grandma thanks the Water Lord. Lombre and Solrock dance together. Brock goes to Mary and asks weather he should stay or not? Although Mary is on the other side of the village by now! Mary asks Brock what he said but Brock replies with “nothing.”

Solrock is now the sacred spring guardian. Ash, May, Max and Brock say that they are happy everything turned out ok and bid goodbye to the villagers.
