We see an apple tree in a park in a city. Pikachu is behind some leaves when it suddenly falls and passes out. Then we see Misty trying to wake up Ash, saying there's something wrong with Pikachu. Brock runs over with it in his arms and says there's something wrong with its voice. There might be something stuck in its throat. Ash tries shaking it to get it out, but Misty says he's only making it worse. They have to get to a PokÃ©mon Center, but what they don't know is that there isn't one around for miles.

They come to a hospital for humans. They pound on the door and a doctor comes out, saying something about needing to sleep. Ash says they need help. Misty does, too, and the doctor says he can't resist a pretty face. He takes them in the hospital. He asks Misty what's wrong, but she says she doesn't need help, Pikachu does! The doctor says this is a hospital for people and they should go see Nurse Joy at the PokÃ©mon Center. Ash says it's too far, they may not make it. The doctor says treating PokÃ©mon isn't his specialty, but he'll try his best. We find out his name is Dr. Proctor.

Pikachu has passed out and Dr. Proctor puts a stethoscope on his chest. He then says there is something caught in Pikachu's throat. He'll do his best to help. He hooks up some sort of little machine to Pikachu's cheeks and says his electric pressure is low. He tells Brock to bring over the, defribilator, that little shocking thingy they use to start peoples hearts. He says Pikachu will need about 10,000 volts. He uses the paddles and Pikachu wakes up. He tells Pikachu to say aah and tells the others to hold it still. Dr. Proctor says he sees what's in Pikachu throat and tries to get it, only to be shocked. He gets it anyway and it turns out to be an entire apple.

Dr. Proctor says if they had waited any longer, it might have resulted in severe respiratory problems. He says Ash is very irresponsible for letting Pikachu swallow it whole. Ash says he didn't let Pikachu swallow it whole, it just happened. Brock says he cared about Misty, but doesn't seem to like Pikachu too much.

The man leaves, saying he should have been a lawyer. The phone on the computer starts ringing. Dr. Proctor says he's off duty, so he's not going to answer it. Brock does, and it turns out to be Nurse Joy. Dr. Proctor says he's off duty. Joy says there has been an accident involving a truck filled with PokÃ©mon! She shows a video of injured PokÃ©mon scattered over a street. It's Team Rocket! Jessie is yelling at James, saying he should have been keeping his eyes on the road. James says he thought Meowth was. Meowth is crying because he can't find the charm that is normally on his forehead.

Joy says they need to use the hospital to care for some of the PokÃ©mon. Dr. Proctor asks if she'd like to go out for pizza this Saturday. She gets angry, saying that he needs to help the PokÃ©mon! Dr. Proctor says that you can't blame a guy for trying. Brock says he doesn't like this guy, he sounds like him. Misty says that's disturbing. Dr. Proctor hands them hospital uniforms and such. They're going to be his assistants, because there aren enough doctors and nurses. Ash and the others say they're ready.

They hear ambulances coming. Two Chansey wheel in a crying Cubone. They put it on a treatment table. Ash has his Bulbasaur hold it down with Vine Whip. Dr. Proctor says you can't be so violent with patients. Chansey hands him an x-ray of Cubone. Dr. Proctor says to repair the fractures with super glue and a bandage. Misty picks up Cubone, saying that it will be okay and how brave it is. Cubone calms down. Dr. Proctor says she really has a knack for it.

We see Jessie and James, along with Arbok and a Raticate. Jessie is angry, saying the Raticate is trying to bite her Arbok. Dr. Proctor comes, saying it can't, because its teeth are broken. He tells a Chansey to put its teeth back on with super glue. He then asks Jessie if she wants to go have pizza this weekend. She gets hearts in her eyes and says he must be a really good doctor. Dr. Proctor says he'll try and help her Arbok and that its own poison is circulating through its body. He takes it to the others. Ash says he shouldn't help them, they're from Team Rocket! Dr. Proctor gives Arbok a shot of anesthetic and Jessie gets angry, saying he's supposed to heal it, not kill it. He says it's only asleep.

Ash asks him why he's helping Team Rocket. Dr. Proctor says there is no such thing as good guys or bad guys. A doctor's job is to heal, not to judge. Dr. Proctor then says that maybe he can convince this beautiful young woman to help. Jessie says he's obviously refering to her. She and James say they'll help and try their best.

Meowth is in another room, crying that he can't find his charm and that he'll pay any price for it. Chansey hands him a bowl of rice and Meowth says he said price, not rice. Chansey hands him some sort of game and Meowth says he doesn't want to play. Chansey also tries giving Meowth a Venonat. Meowth goes a bit crazy and Chansey grabs him and starts slapping him. It then puts a bandage on his forehead.

James and Brock are trying to glue a Pinsir's pincer back on its head, while Jessie and Misty try to get a Voltorb out of Weepinbell's mouth. Voltorb is pretty mad and Dr. Proctor says it might Selfdestruct. Jessie can't, so a Chansey tries and gets it out.

Next up is a very angry Dodrio. Its necks are all tangled up. Dr. Proctor, Ash and Brock are there. What do they do? Dr. Proctor says its three heads represent joy, sorrow, and anger. Ash says all three look pretty angry. Dr. Proctor says if they dont do something, it will suffocate. He tries giving it some anesthetic, but one of the heads hits him and the needle hits him on the shoulder. He says he should be out for about six hours and passes out. Looks like they're on their own! The Dodrio is still angry, so Ash sends Squirtle and it used Water Gun. Then he has Pikachu shock it. Ash is about to catch it, but Brock say he can't. Ash says he forgot.

We see everyone taking care of various PokÃ©mon. James' Weezing, a Sandslash, a Nidoking, a Parasect, while Meowth is still looking for his charm.

Jessie and James have decided it's time for Team Rocket to take over and catch all the PokÃ©mon! They take off their hospital uniforms and jump on some stretchers. They say their lines, then Meowth jumps up, saying he wants his charm, and they crash. Ash, Brock, Misty and Pikachu come. Jessie says that they're going to take all the PokÃ©mon. Misty says that they treated her PokÃ©mon, is that how you should act? Jessie says yes. James says something about a Stretcher Catcher and they push a bunch of stretchers with arms at Ash and the others, trapping them.

They say to let them go, the PokÃ©mon still need to be treated. James gets out a big hypodermic needle, and as he is about to use it on Ash, a Chansey jumps out in front of him. It seems angry. Jessie tells it to get out of the way, but it won't. Jessie tells Arbok to get rid of it, but it won't. James tries telling Weezing to attack it, but it won't either. Meowth says he wants his charm again.

It's Dr. Proctor. He laughs, saying that Arbok and Weezing won't attack Chansey because they remember that it treated them when they were injured. Jessie gets angry and throws a beaker of liquid at him, but he quickly pulls out a scalpel and breaks it in half. Ash says he's fast. Dr. Proctor reveals his ammo in his jacket. Lots of scalpels, scissors, and needles! Jessie says they better not mess with him! Some Chansey release Ash and the others and they push the stretchers at Team Rocket, who are chased out of the hospital.

Jessie is upset because they didn't get any PokÃ©mon. James pulls out the one they did get, a Voltorb! It Selfdestructs, sending them flying. They land and Meowth charm appears out of his head!

Dr. Proctor says Ash and the others would make outstanding doctors. He asks if they'd like to stay and train. They say no thanks. Misty says she'd like to be a doctor someday, but she still has a lot to learn about water PokÃ©mon' They say bye and thanks.
