This episode is essential viewing because: May rejoins the group.

The episode begins on the beach, with the narrator talking about the Wallace Cup contest. Dawn talks to Piplup about the contest very briefly, before Beautifly flies over to Ash and the group. Ash and Pikachu seem excited and Dawn checks out Beautifly’s information on the Pokedex. We then see that on the ocean, a ferry is arriving with a familiar friend, May!

May is now off the boat, carrying two shopping bags. She says everyone’s name in excitement, before Ash says to May about her new look. From one of her shopping bags, she gives a Teddiursa cookie to Ash and an Ursaring cookie to Brock. Ash thanks May, while Brock looks at his cookie in what appears to be a disappointed expression. May also has a small box. She gives it to Dawn, and Dawn thanks her. Dawn opens it to find a Piplup necklace, and May blushes. After a conversation, we zoom out to see Team Rocket watching, They seem to be shocked and annoyed that another one of the “twerps” has rejoined the group.

Ash, Brock, Dawn and May are walking up some steps, and Ash seems to ask her about the “others”. We see Max looking after Norman’s Slaking, The gang have reached the top of the steps. May throws a Poke Ball, only for us to see Glaceon come out, evolved from her Eevee! Ash, Brock and Dawn look at it, and Dawn kneels down and checks out Glaceon’s data on her Pokedex. She then smiles gleefully! A flashback shows May in an ice cave back in Johto, with her Glaceon touching a rock, showing its evolution from Eevee. The others then seem to ask about her rivals. We see Drew with Roserade (presumably evolved from his Roselia) and Harley with Wigglytuff. Dawn puts her arms together and asks about May’s ribbons. She opens up a case showing her 3 Johto ribbons. They then seem to have a conversation about Johto, before Ash’s stomach rumbles. He covers his stomach in embarrassment, then Dawn asks if there is a restaurant. May says she knows one.

They are then standing outside the Seven Stars restaurant and May briefly explains it to them. We see Team Rocket spying on them. Jessie looks mad whilst Meowth is disappointed…

Inside the restaurant, they are greeted by a waiter, who speaks to them. He leads them to a room, but is interrupted by a person who runs out of it. The person seems distressed, but quickly runs off. Inside the room, there is a massive battling pitch, with two trainers on the other side. May looks happy, then apparently when you’ve battled here, you go into the restaurant. May presumably asks Ash to battle, but he grabs his stomach, obviously eager to eat instead. But when the waiter shows the restaurant room ahead, they all look happy! Team Rocket are outside, determined to eat.

Two trainers come in, and introduce themselves. Ash and Brock team up for the battle. Brock sends out Sudowoodo, while Ash sends out Pikachu. The opposing trainers send out Snorlax and Munchlax. May is excited obviously, as she has a Munchlax too. Dawn checks out Munchlax’s Pokedex data, as well as Snorlax’s. Ash and Brock look worried, but determined. The battle begins!

At the start, at the same time, Snorlax uses Focus Punch, Pikachu uses Volt Tackle, and Munchlax and Sudowoodo use “fast attacks.” Sudowoodo and Mucnhlax collide, but Pikachu jumps over Snorlax’s attack and hits him straight on. We then see Snorlax and Munchlax are down! Victory goes to Ash and Brock! The loosing trainers are upset. But now it’s Dawn and May’s turn…

This time, the opposing trainers send out Girafarig and Drifloon, May is really gleeful! The opposing trainer bows. Dawn sends out Piplup, and May sends out her signature Pokemon, Blaziken! Dawn looks at its data on the Pokedex. The battle is about to begin, but is interrupted by the second room-smoke is coming out of it! But, uh-oh, May is really mad and on fire (literally!) Dawn and piplup are worried…

In the other room, it is trashed and the tables have collapsed! The chef runs out scared, and one of the trainers is really sad and mad and falls to the ground! May quickly sends out her Munchlax, and Pikachu is delighted to see him again! The trainer sends out her Munchlax, and they are commanded to sniff out the room. Munchlax smells something outside…When outside, Munchlax points to a tree. Team Rocket are sitting at a table not too far by, enjoying lots of food. It seems they stole the fridge from the restaurant to get the food! The twerps sniff them out, but they quickly eat all the food! Everyone else looks disappointed…Jessie is really fat and puts her lipstick on, and James is fat too, but May is still mad! Team Rocket recite their motto, but Brock spots the fridge they took; May points at them angrily! Team Rocket guard the fridge, Carnivine and Seviper guard in front of them, but May gets even angrier! Brock is about to use one of his Pokemon, but May and Dawn agree to instead, so they send out Glaceon and Buneary.

Seviper uses Poison Tail and Carnivine uses Bullet Seed, but Buneary and Glaceon both knock the two off using their Ice Beam’s. They fly back to Team Rocket, causing them to freeze. Glaceon uses Iron Tail to push them in the air, and Buneary kicks them so they blast off again!

Ash looks triumphant, and Buneary even winks at Pikachu! They all congratulate each other. Back at the restaurant, they are all thanked in the kitchen. They agree to finish their battle. The battle starts at the battlefield, Blaziken defends itself, Girafarig uses Tackle, Piplup uses Bubblebeam, but Driflloon spins around for defense. And Girafairig BITES Blaziken! Blaziken is forced back, and Piplup is in the air being tickled by Drifloon. But Piplup whirlpools him off, Girafarig too! Whilst there in the air in the Whirlpool, Piplup uses Bubblebeam and Blaziken uses Flamethrower. That knocks them both out! Winners are Dawn and May! Blaziken and Piplup are very triumphant. They are thanked for the battle, so they get to eat at the restaurant.

At night, they are all on the porch. They look at the hall where the Wallace Cup will be held. May and Ash both take out their half ribbons that they won previously in an unofficial contest, and put them together. Dawn is curious, and May tells her about it. Dawn takes out her only ribbon. They both have a conversation, and May looks shocked for some reason...
