This episode is essential viewing because: Delia Ketchum befriends a Mr. Mime.

We see Ash on the phone. His mom appears on the screen, but its the answering machine. Ash leaves a mesage, saying that hes coming to visit! He, Misty and Brock head for Pallet. Ash runs ahead of them, but he and Pikachu run into a wall of some sort! Brock asks why he stopped, and Ash said he ran into an invisible wall! Brock and Misty both feel that there is a wall in front of them. Ash wonders how a it got there, then he looks up and sees something climbing up the wall! A Mr. Mime! Ash says that he found a rare Pokémon without even looking! He gtes out a Poké Ball to catch it, but lady with blue hair wearing a weird outfit stops him, saying that she wants to catch that Mr. Mime! Ash says no, he saw it first!

Brock tells Ash to be polite, and tells the lady that she can catch the Mr. Mime! While Ash argues, the Mr. Mime jumps down from the wall, and runs away! The lady throws a Poké Ball at it, but it hits the wall and bounces off. The lady says now what is she going to do? Brock says that its his fault the Mr. Mime got away, and hell help her in any way he can!

The lady takes them to a Pokémon Circus thats in town. Mistys it looks like fun, and we find out the lady is Stella, and shes the ringmaster (ringleader? I can never remember) of the circus. Brock says he and Stella both love Pokémon so they have lots in common! Three girls come out of a truck, and ask Stella if she got a new Mr. Mime. She says almost. Their Mr. Mime wont perform! Stella takes Ash and the others to Mr. Mimes trailer, where Mr. Mime is lying on a couch, eating potato chips. Brock says it looks lazy, and Misty says it looks like a slob! Stella says its her fault. She wanted it to be perfect, so she trained it constantly, and it just quit in the middle of a performance! Now it wont listen to her. Ash says that she was too tough, so it just quit.

Stellas plan is too get another Mr. Mime as competition for hers. Brock says he gets it, that way, her Mr. Mime will be jealous, and want to perform again! Misty says that might work, because Ash tries harder because hes jealous of Gary! Ash gets mad, and says hes ten times better than Gary! She says, she what she means? Brock tells Stella hell get her a new Mr. Mime! She asks if she can count on him. He says of course, they dont call him Brock the Rock for nothing! Misty says that they must mean the rocks in his head. =)

Ash tells Brock that itll be tough getting another Mr. Mime. Brock says that why catch one, when he can make one? Ash asks how Brock is going to make one. Brock laughs evilly. (Its funny when he does that!) He says hes glad Ash asked that. ash asks if he can help. Brock says that Ash can help, and grabs him by the shoulders. Ash screams for some reason.

In a forest, the Meowth balloon goes down to a hidden Team Rocket base! Inside, Jessie, James and Meowth bow in front of a well, wall, and a guy says that Jessie, James and Meowth are here. A screen lowers in front of the wall. Giovanni, Persian, and Mewtwo, in his armor, are there. Giovanni gets angry and asks what they want. They say theyre sorry for what happened to the Viridian Gym, and Jessie asks him to forgive them. Giovanni says he doesnt need their excuses, he needs them to get rare Pokémon! They say theyll get them, and quickly leave. Giovanni looks at Mewtwo and say that no matter how long they search, theyll never find a Pokémon as rare as him!

Team Rocket is up in the Meowth balloon. Jessie says that they were lucky this time. James says that have to get some rare Pokémon fast! Meowth says that rare Pokémon dont just come up and smack you on the face! A pices of paper advertising the Pokémon Circus hits Meowth on the face. Looks like theyre heading for the circus.

At the circus, Stella says that they have their Mr. Mime! Misty says it might work! Brock says it might be the best Pokémon hes ever raised! There is a Mr. Mime standing in front of them, who isnt really a Mr. Mime. Its Ash in a costume, and he takes off the Mr. Mime head, and asks why he has to wear the costume. Brock says hes too tall, and Misty says how could she hide her face? Ash says he wont do it. Stella says please, and Brock says he has to! Ash says he doesnt even know how to do Mr. Mimes tricks! Brock says that Stella will use her gentle and compassionate training techniques and have Ash doing Mr. Mimes act in no time! The three girls ask Ash to do it, and he gives in. He says it might even be fun! Then Stella gets out a whip, and start whipping at Ash, telling him to start training! She snaps the whip and tells him to do some pantomime, and Ash pretends to feel a wall. Stella says to put more feeling into it! Ash wonders how hes supposed to put more feeling into acting like hes feeling a window, and says that if these are Stellas gentle and compassionate training techniques, no wonder Mr. Mime quit!

Brock and Misty go to the real Mr. Mimes trailer, and its still lying around eating. Brock says the plan doesnt seem to be working. Misty says that maybe Mr. Mime doesnt care about competition. The next day, fireworks are going off, and people are going into the circus tent. Theres a huge crowd. Stella comes out in a clown-like outfit, and says here are the stars of the Pokémon Circus! There are a Ponyta and Rapidash, a Machoke, a Tangela and Exeggcute, and a Dodrio. Stella and Ash in the Mr. Mime costume wave to the crowd. Ash sees his mom in the crowd! Stella tells him to be quiet, and suddenly, the lights go out! Misty asks if its part of the show, and Brock says he doesnt think so!

Of course, its Team Rocket! Jessie and James say their motto, while swinging on the trapeze. They fall, of course, and bounce off the net onto a high platform. Meowth blasts out of a cannon, and lands between them. Jessie says that they want that Mr. Mime! Ash tries to say that hes not a Mr. Mime, but Stella stops him. James fires a net at Stella and Ash, and Brock knocks Stella, of course, out of the way. The net wraps around Ash, and Team Rocket leaves in their ballon, carrying Ash!

Misty says that they got Ash, and then his mother comes over to them. She says that she knows that wasnt a Mr. Mime, it was Ash! Misty says thats right. Ashs Mom says she knew it. But they dont need to worry! Misty says that Team Rocket just kidnapped her son! His mom says that they wanted a Mr. Mime, but when they find out they got Ash, theyll let him go. Brock says he wishes he could see their faces when they find out. Ashs mom asks if they want to go back to her house and have something to eat. They say sure.

Team Rocket gets back to a log cabin in the woods. Meowth says that was too easy! James said that for once those kids didnt get in their way! Jessie says that they finally got a rare and unusual Pokémon for the Boss! Ash, in the costume, is tied up, and is trying to free himself. He does, and stands up. He says that hes more unusual than they think, and takes the Mr. Mime mask off. James screams that its head came off! Ash says that hes no Mr. Mime, but he fooled them, which really isnt much to say. Jessie asks how it learned to talk, and James tells Ash to pretend like hes trapped in a bubble! Ash puts the mask back on, saying that hes not really a Mr. Mime, he just plays one on TV. =) He leaves.

Jessie says that hes always ruining their plans! Meowth says they have to stop this once and for all! they run outside to see Ash floating away in their balloon! He says that for one their hot air came in handy. They yell at him to come back, and Meowth says thats his head on that balloon!

At Ashs house, Misty and Brock are leaving. Brock says thanks, and that Ash is lucky to have such a great mom. They leave. Ashs mom says youre welcome, and the real Mr. Mime, from the invisible wall, appears behind a bush! Ashs mom goes in and sits on the couch, saying shes worried about Ash. She heards a rattling, and sees the real Mr. Mime standing outside some glass doors! Thinking that its Ash in costume, she lets it in. She says thanks goodness hes home, and that his friends said why he was in the costume. Mr. Mime just says "Mr. Mime?" and Ashs mom says that he must really be trying to be a Mr. Mime! She says lunch will be ready in a few minutes. Mr. Mime looks confused. It sits down, and Ashs mom gives it some food, and Mr. Mime eats it happily. (I think its kind of cute, even though its a ::shudder:: mime.)

Meanwhile, Ash, in the costume, lands in front of his house in the balloon. He says his moms going to be surprised. He says hes home, and his mom says she knows hes home! She looks to see the real Mr. Mime in the chair eating, and Ash in the costume, and theyre looking at each other. Ashs mom wonders if Ash has a twin brother. (Well, now we know where Ash gets his incredible denseness from!) Ash asks whats going on, and Mr. Mime gets scared, and hides behind Ashs mom. She says shes confused. Ash says that thats a real Mr. Mime! She says that that means he must be Ash! He takes off the mask. His mom says she should have known, Ash wouldnt have eaten that nicely. =) Ash tells the Mr. Mime that his friends at the circus need its help. Mr. Mime shakes its head. Ashs mom says that if it helps, shell make it a big dessert! Mr. Mime nods, and they hug. (How cute.) Ash says that hes supposed to be the Pokémon trainer!

A black tank with the Team Rocket R on it heads for the Pokémon Circus. Inside, Jessie, James and Meowth say that since they dont have their balloon, theyll have to use this! Jessie says theyll get all the Pokémon at the circus! They fire net missiles, and capture them all! Stella tells the three girls to get all the Pokémon and run for it! They get in the three trucks, but Team Rocket chases, and stops them with a net. Team rocket looks around for the Me. Mime, and see Stella running with the lazy one. It has a lower voice than the one at Ashs house, so Im guessing its older, (and overweight) It trips, and Stella carries it on her back. Team Rocket targets them, but Ash jumps down from no where.

Pikachu runs over into Ashs arms. Meowth says to move! Jessie and James say or theyll make Pikachu a pancake! Pikachu uses Thunderbolt on the tank, but with no effect. Jessie says the tanks made out of rubber, so it cant be shocked! (doesnt look like rubber...) Ash tries sending Charizard, but it ignores him, so he brings it back. Jessie says Ashs Pokémon training days are over, and they starts driving towards Ash! His mom yells for help. Then, the Mr. Mime from his house jumps down between them, and they stop. They target the Mer. Mime, and fire, but Mr. Mime makes a wall, and it bounces off! Mr. Mime makes a big wall, and Team Rocket tries ramming it with the tank, but it doesnt budge! The other Mr. Mime looks upset.

Team Rocket puts the tank in reverse, and they head right for Stella, Brock and Misty! the older Mr. Mime jumps out, and also makes a wall, stopping the tank! The young Mr. Mime comes, and they both put walls around the tank, until Team Rocket is trapped inside a huge tower of walls! Ash says they did it! His mom says thats her Mimie, and hugs the younger Mr. Mime. She says Mimie is its nickname, isnt it cute? =) Stella apologizes to her Mr. Mime, saying that she was too hard on it. She asks if it will perform again, and it nods. They hug. (lot of hugging in this ep)

Team Rocket is still trapped in the tower of walls. they fire all the missiles, but they ric ochet of the walls, and theyre blown out of the tower, and end up who-knows-where. Later, at Ashs house, we see Mimie wearing an apron, and cooking. Ash;s mom says its nice to have a Mr. Mime around the house! Brock says its becoming part of the family. Misty says, except it has nice manners, and helps around the house. Ash says he does, too! And thats it. Mr. Mime! =)

(Why do they talk? I thought mimes werent supposed to talk. Oh well.)
