This episode is essential viewing because: Ash wins his 4th round battle. Gary is knocked out of the Indigo League.

The crowd cheers as Gary Oak nears the end of his fourth round on the rock field. Ash and co. are watching from the stands. Gary and his opponent, Mellisa, both have one Pokémon each. Gary has sent his Niodking, and Mellisa sent Golem. Gary has Nidoking use Horn Attack. It charges at Golem, but Golem grabs Nidoking by the horn, stopping it! It uses Seismic Tos, slamming Nidoking into the ground, rendering it unconcious! Mellisa wins! Gary collapses on the platform, and all his cheerleaders cry. Ash says he cant believe it!

Gary goes out to the waiting red convertable, where the girls are still bawling their eyes out. Gary wonders how he could lose. Ash goes over to Gary. Gary says his opponent was lucky he got distracted by all the girls cheering. Theyre dissapointed now, but theyll get over it. They continue crying as he gets in the car and leaves. He doesnt seem to upset over losing.

Ash asks Pikachu if he can believe Gary lost. Ash says he though Gary would atleast make it through the foruth round! He wonders if he should quit while hes ahead. Pikachu shakes his head no. Brock walks over and says that as long as hes around, Ash isnt going to quit. He and Pikachu both believe in Ash. Misty shouts at Ash that his foruth match is beginning!

In the main building, we see Team Rocket, selling stuff at a souvenier stand! James says theyre selling out of everything! Jessie says its been a huge success. Meowth says theyre there to swipe Pokémon! James says he enjoys doing honest stuff. like normal people. He gets a watering can, and pours some water on his Victreebel. Then it grabs James head in its mouth, again. =) A guy comes over and asks if they have any more gym badges left. Meowth says there are still some left, and Jessie and Jasmes see that hes been making fake badges, and are dissapointed with him.

Ash is on the Grass field for his fourth match! Brock says that Ash wont lose. Misty wonders why he didnt have them coach him from the sidelines, like before. Brock says Ash wanted to do this himself. Misty says Ash should use Bulbasaur for this match. Brock syas that Ashs opponent will be a girl name Jeanette Fisher. Then, from the other side of the field, and red carpet rolls out and music starts playing. A girl walks out, with someone throwing flower petals around her. Its Jeanette from Crimson City! She has also brought a huge cheerleading section. Brock gets a weird look on his face again, and says that she should win. Misty says theyre supposed to be rooting for Ash!

Ash sends Bulbasaur, and Jeanette sends Beedrill! Beedrill uses Tackle, but Bulbasaur dodges, and use Razor Leaf, but Beedrill also dodges. It uses Twin Needle, and Bulbasaur dodges. Beedrill tries Poison Sting, but the ever agile Bulbasaur continues to dodge. Misty wonders if all Jeanettes Pokémon are like that. Brock wonders if she has a boyfriend. Bulbasaur uses Leech Seed, and it starts draining life from Beedrill! Brock starts crying because Jeanette is losing, and Misty gets mad. Bulbasaur finished Beedrill off with Tackle.

Next, Jeanette sends Scyther! Misty wonders if Ash is ready for a Scyther. Brock says maybe. Scyther starts the battle with a Slash, which Bulbasaur dodges. Then it uses Quick Attack, which Bulbasaur manages to dodge, but some of it hits it. Bulbasaur uses Vine Whip, but Scyther blocks it. Then it glows, and splits into three Scyther! Its the Double Team attack! Bulbasair looks around in confusion. Jeanettes cheerleading section cheers. She laughs.

Bulbasaur uses Vine Whip on one Scyther, but it goes through! The real Scyther flies at Bulbasaur, hitting it. It goes back to attack again, and Bulbasaur dodges. Brock says Ash has to do something! Bulbasaur uses Razor Leaf, but the Scyther dodges, and becomes three Scyther again. All three hit Bulbasaur at once. Then Ash tells it to Vine Whip all three! It does, and manages to hit the real one, slamming it into the ground. Scyther has fainted! Brock says the Double Team made Scythers defense twice as low. Misty says Ash has one left to beat, then hell win!

Meanwhile, the Meowth balloon flies over a crowd of people, with a net of giant inflatable Pikachu beneath it. Jessie, who is with James and Meowth on the ground, says that while everyone looks at that, theyll use a vaccuum to suck up all the Pokémon! Elsewhere, two Officer Jennies see the balloon and recognize it as Team Rockets. One of them tells the Growlithe with them to use Flamethrower on it, and it does, incinerating it. Team Rocket tries to get the vaccuum to work, but then the Jennies spot them, and chase after them. They run into the stadium, and Meowth trips, and so do Jessie and James. They quickly put on disguises, of hot dogs and ice cream venders, and start selling stuff.

Back at the battle. Misty says that Jeanette has probably saved her strongest Pokémon for last. Jeanette sends a... Bellsprout?! Everyone gasps. Ash says she must have run out of strong Pokémon, and all she has is that puny Bellsprout! He says this will be a short battle. He tells Bulbasaur to Tackle it. Bulbasaur charges at Bellsprout, but as it gets there, Bulbasaur grabs its legs with its leaves, and flips Bulbasaur over on the ground! The cheerleading section cheers. Bulbasaur tries again, and Bellsprout again flips it. Brock says Bellsprout is absorbing the attack! Bellsprout grabs Bulbasaur, and slams it into the ground several times. Bulbasaur faints!

Ash sends Pikachu! Brock says he should have no problem. Pikachu uses Thundershock, but Bellsprout dodges, and uses Razor Leaf, which cuts right through two boulders behind Pikachu! Pikachu uses Thunderbolt, hitting Bellsprout, but it doesnt have any effect! Jeanette says Bellsprouts legs are like tiny lightning rods, and ground the electricity. Misty says Ash is in trouble now! Pikachu starts making punching motions in the air, and runs at Bellsprout, who dodges. Pikachu tries to hit Bellsprout, and Beelsprout kicks out with a root foot, htting Pikachu on the head. Pikachu faints! (Ha!) Brock says Jeanette did save her best for last!

Then, Prof. Oak and Ashs mom walk over to them. Brock asks if Prof. Oak knows that Gary lost. Oak says he does, but he thinks it will do Gary good to lose. He says that now everyone in Pallet is depending on Ash to win for them! Misty says this is just putting more pressure on Ash.

Ash sends out his last Pokémon. Muk! Jeanette gasps. Prof. Oak says that Ash got it from him the night before, because he knew it would have an advantage. Misty doesnt know which surprises her more, Ash using Muk, or that fact that he though ahead! =) Jeanette tells Bellsprout to use a flying kick! But it just sinks into Muks slimy body. Then it grabs Muk, and throws it, but it doesnt seem to hurt Muk much. Ash says to keep it up! Bellsprout uses Razor Leaf on Muk, but the leaves just bounce off! Ash tells Muk to use Body Slam! Muk looms over Bellsprout, then crash down over it, smothering it. Bellsprout stuggles to get out, then stops. Muk gets back up. Bellsprout has fainted! Ash wins!

Everyone claps and cheers. Ash runs over to Muk and says it did it! Muk hugs Ash, knocking him to the ground. Oak says it really knows how to smother you with affection! =) Jeanette picks up her Bellsprout, saying shes proud of it, and that theyre going home now.

Back with Team Rocket, theyve sold out of food. James says selling stuff like this is better than trying to steal! Jessie says its fun and profitable. Meowth is upset with them, and says sarcastically that theyre probably going to open up a fast food place. Jessie says thats a great idea, and she and James break into a fast food themed version of their motto. (Ill put the words up when I get the chance) Elsewhere, Ash, Brock, Misty, Prof. Oak, and Ashs mom are there, along with Muk. Misty says that without Muk, Ash would be out of luck, and Muk gives her a big, slimy hug. =)
