This episode is essential viewing because:
Ash gets his Bulbasaur back from Prof. Oak before sending it back.

Ash and co walk into a town with many stores. May wants to start shopping immediately but Ash wants to head straight to the pokemon centre. They continue, until May stops them and says she wants to get Bulbasaur introduced to the real world and throws out its pokeball. They don’t really understand it so May explains since it hasn’t been in the real world before, she’ll has to introduce it to it. Brock thinks it’s a good idea and May starts to explain Bulbasaur about the real world. Then Bulbasaur runs at a fruit stand and starts to grab an apple but May tells it that’s it’s wrong to take things that don’t belong to you.

As Max complains to May that it wants to head to the pokemon centre, May tells him she’s ready and turns to Bulbasaur. But it’s missing, Brock says it’s over there and points at a truck with Bulbasaur in the back. They start running after it as Brock and Ash run even faster and let the driver stop. May and Max catch up and May tells Bulbasaur to never ever do that again.

In the meanwhile, Team Rocket is at the pokemon centre. They are disguised as repairman and are ‘repairing’ the pokeball transporters. Nurse Joy asks how things are going and all things are good according to Team Rocket. They say that the boss will be really proud of them.

Then Ash and co. come walking into the pokemon centre. Ash asks Joy if she can heal their pokemon until Brock interrupts and starts flirting with nurse Joy. Max is once again annoyed by this and pulls Brock away from nurse Joy by pulling his bag. Then James in disguise tells nurse Joy that it’s done and the three of them walk out of the pokemon centre.

May asks what has been finished and Joy tells her that the pokeball transporters was broken. Ash decides to call professor Oak, while Brock gives all the pokemon some pokemon food. Max tells professor Oak that May has caught a Bulbasaur and prof. Oak really wants to see it so May shows it to him.

Ash asks prof. Oak how his Bulbasaur is doing and it shows it to Ash. Ash tells it that it looks fine while Bulbasaur is waving. When a boy behind Ash transports a pokemon, Ash wants prof. Oak to transport it to him. May and Max tell that they thought Ash only wanted to use Hoenn pokemon but Ash explains that it’s only for 1 day so the two Bulbasaur can meet each other.

Brock says it’s a good idea so professor Oak returns Bulbasaur and sends it to Ash. May wants Ash to open the pokeball quickly when the pokeball is transported. He tries but Bulbasaur doesn’t come out and he starts to shake it. Several other kids say that they have the same problem. Then Joy comes by and wonders what’s wrong and so they tell her and show her that all of their pokeballs are empty. Joy wonders how this happened since the repairmen just fixed it. Max tells her that the repairmen might have framed the machine but Joy tells him that’s it’s impossible. Then a pair of repairmen drop into the pokemon centre and everyone is shocked by this.

In the meanwhile, team Rocket is outside the pokemon centre sucking up every pokeball that is transported with the transporter. James repeats what the entire plan is and tells that every transported pokeball is replaced by an empty pokeball.

Then Ash and co along with Joy and some kids come rushing out of the pokemon centre and see Team Rocket. Ash demands to give back the stolen pokeballs and they do their motto. They immediately fly off with their balloon with rockets attached to it. Ash sends out Taillow and May sends out Beautifly but they manage to fly off. Pikachu tries to use a thunderbolt but they are too far out of reach. Then the rockets starts to have some problems and it starts to explode. While they blast off a pokeball is thrown into the air and heads at Ash and co. May orders Bulbasaur to catch it with vine whip and it opens immediately to reveal Ash’s Bulbasaur.

Ash and Bulbasaur have a nice reunion and May’s Bulbasaur is introduced to Ash’s Bulbasaur. They shake vines, but May tells them that they have to get the other pokeballs back. Ash agrees and Ash sends out Taillow to find Team Rocket and May does the same with Beautifly.

In the meanwhile, James complains about the rockets he bought. Jessie tells him that he should help with the pokeballs but he refuses. She screams at him and he helps her. When they finish picking up the pokeballs, Jessie gives James her sack and James has to carry two sacks because Jessie has a pain in her neck. They walk off while there is a hole in one of James’ sacks and leaves a trail.

In the meanwhile Ash and co search for Team Rocket. May’s Bulbasaur sees some flowers and smells it and Ash’s Bulbasaur soon follows. They tell each other that it isn’t really into finding the pokeballs but Ash’s Bulbasaur mutters on May’s Bulbasaur and they head back to Ash and co.

Taillow and Beautifly in the meanwhile fly over the forest and spot some pokeballs on the ground. Taillow picks one up and they fly off again. The bulbasaurs then find a Nuzleaf and a Shroomish and ask if they have seen a Meowth by making a Meowth with their vines. They nod and point into a direction and Ash and co are happy to see that they are on track now.

They then arrive at the ballon which still contains a few pokeballs. Max wonders where the other ones went to and May’s Bulbasaur points at a pokeball on a path. Then Taillow and Beautifly come flying by with the pokeball and Ash asks where he got that. Taillow points that they found it further on the round and they set off to find Team Rocket.

Team Rocket in the meantime is searching in a cabin for something to escape with. Meowth finds some skies but Jessie doesn’t want those, then Meowth notices a hole in James’ sack. Jessie and Meowth start to get angry at James while he tries to defend himself.

They look outside the cabin and see trail of pokeballs leading into the forest. Then Ash and co pop up and Brock tells them that they have an entire sack full of lost pokeballs. But Team Rocket lock themselves up in the house and an entire metal cage is covering the house. James tells from the inside that there is no way to get in.

Ash and co try to make up a plan to get into the house when they see a window which isn’t covered in the metal cage. Jessie also spots this and tells James and he tells them that they will have to fight back. He grabs a ski and starts punching pokeballs outside, the pokeball opens and reveals a Golbat which slams into Ash.

James punches another pokeballs and it reveals a Primeape which punches Ash. May, Max and Brock are on the roof together with the Bulbasaur and they tell them to grab the sacks. Team Rocket tries everything to stop that and they even tie both vines together but James doesn’t manage that while Jessie puts the sacks away.

Brock is returning the pokemon into their pokeballs outside and Pikachu uses iron tail to smash the iron wall and to create a hole in the wall. May and Max appear and so do Team Rocket.

Team Rocket sends out Cacnea and Seviper and Cacnea starts to hug James but he pulls it off him. Jesse orders Seviper to use poison tail on Ash’s Bulbasaur but he avoids it. May’s Bulbasaur in the meanwhile is being attacked by Cacnea’s pin missile. It can manage to hit some of those needles by using razor leaf but can’t manage to hit all of them.

Max gets scared when the other needles head at Bulbasaur but Ash’s Bulbasaur jumps in front of it and uses its vines to destroy the needles. Both Jesse and James want to attack them again with a poison tail and needle arm combination but both Bulbasaurs use vine whip to smash them back to their trainers. The sack flies up but both Bulbasaur’s catch them with their vines. Jesse and James want to attack again but Ash orders Pikachu to use thunderbolt and blasts off Team Rocket. Ash and co walk up to the two bulbasaurs and thank them and they high five using their vines.

At the pokemon centre, nurse Joy thanks them for their help and thanks Bulbasaur too after they told her they did all the work. Brock then starts to flirt but Max pulls him away.

They then call professor Oak again and it’s a big mess there. Oak wants Bulbasaur back now since all the grass pokemon have started to fight again. Ash asks if it wants to go back and it wants that. It says goodbye to may’s Bulbasaur and the others and Ash recalls it. It sends it back to Oak. In the evening they say goodbye to nurse Joy and the kids and set off.
