... In America. The 5th Pokémon film is now on a limited release throughout the United States.

This news item is more than 45 days old. Updates are unlikely and newer information may already be available.

The film, that centres around the new legendary birds Latias and Latios premiered at the Tribeca film festival on the 11th May.

Of course, the release of the film, like its predecessor only recieved a limited release because of the decline of Pokémon in the mass-market.

The critics however, have already slated the film, with some notable quotes including:

"Subjecting kids to such shoddy junk when they could be watching `Spirited Away' or `Finding Nemo' should count as cinematic child abuse."

"If you think of it as the cinematic equivalent of a dental appointment that's less painful than you'd anticipated, you'll have a fairly accurate notion of its quality."

"It looks cheap and feels slapped together."

It did recieve one sort-of-good comment, though:

"It's one of those little ironies that as interest has flagged in the animated Pokémon movie franchise, the scripts have actually gotten better."

To paraphrase the Crystal maze: "Will you let the fans [decide] please!?"
