An eleven year old boy who was missing for fours days in the Utah wilderness (that probably means only one Starbucks per square mile), has been found, and there's a very vague link to Pokémon in this story.
This news item is more than 45 days old. Updates are unlikely and newer information may already be available.
Brennan Hawkins, has somehow managed to spend four days in the Utah wilderness, and has ended up completely unscathed.Brennan's mum, Jody Hawkins doesn't know why he ran away to the wilderness for a bit- we reckon it could be because she gave him such an awful name.
What she does know, however, is that the only thing that got him out of the wilderness was the Pokémon cards they'd bought him off of eBay. One of Brennan's first questions was apparently had they arrived? We reckon he should have asked her to get his name changed.
Vaguely interestingly, Jody defied the bizarre logic of the American search and rescue people. He went uphill rather than down, shock, horror. “Typically children walk downhill, along the least path of resistance,” Sheriff Dave Edmunds said, suggesting children were lazy. "Why don't we just grow children in eggs until they're eighteen?", he was heard to mumble under his breath.
This farce has raised a series of questions about child safety, parenting and standard search techniques. Perhaps the most important question of all though, is, what cards has Brennan bought?
