Corocoro have revealed some decent sized images of the boxes for the upcoming Diamond/Pearl games, confirmed a Japanese release date AND shown us "proper" images of some new Pokémon!

See these boxes? If you live in Japan, then on 28th September 2006 you ought to be rushing out to the shops to get hold of these beauties. No money? Ancient family heirlooms aren't as important as these.

Anyway, Corocoro have revealed a fair bit of information about the legendaries featured on said boxes. The legendary from Pearl is called Parukia, and is known as the Space-Ruling Pokémon. The legendary from Diamond is called Diaruga, will appear in the ninth movie and is known as the Time-Ruling Pokémon. Basically, Pokémon is getting all "Doctor Who" on us.

Other New Pokémon

This fellow is called Chierimu. It's a grass type, and classified as a Sakura Pokémon. It's ability is called Flower Head, and takes place when Sunny Day is in effect. It can learn an attack called Trouble Seed, which changes the ability of the opponent to Insomnia for a short time in battle.

This fellow is called Pachirissu. It's a electric type, and classified as an Electric Squirrel Pokémon. It's ability is either Pick Up or Run Away.

This fellow is called Dorapion. He's a Poison/Dark type, and is classified as a Changing Scorpion Pokémon. It's ability is either Battle Armor or Snipe. It can learn an attack called Cross Poison, which has a high Poisoning rate AND a high Critical Hit rate.

The article also gives some facts about other Pokémon we already know about, as well as a few general facts:

Tamanta, the pre-evolution of Mantine, is a Water/Flying type, with an ability of either Water Absorb or Swift Swim.
Perappu, the musical parrot thing, has now changed from a pure Flying type to Normal/Flying, which I'm assuming is a bad thing. It's ability will either be Keen Eye or something new called Unstable Gait.
Lucario's ability may be Humble Heart, which increases Speed when Flinching occurs.
Lucario can learn an attack called Wave Guiding Bomb, which is a Fighting type.
Munchlax comes with an attack called Nature Spurt which can change the characteristics of other attacks.
Weavile comes with an attack called Freeze, which just disabled any item the Opposition may be holding.
Buizeru comes with an attack called Aqua Jet, which always attacks first.
Team Rocket? Team Magma? Team Aqua? No no no, it's Team Galaxy who are all the range now, and apparantly they try to "get in" with the new Professor.
The previously noticed basement of Pokémon Centers, is going to be where all the Wi-fi stuff takes place.

Also mentioned is that a new Pokémon anime series will begin around the release of the games, entitled Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, following the adventures of the new female character!
