Celebi found in HeartGold/SoulSilver? :: News

Unofficial reports have emerged suggesting Celebi plays a role in a wifi event for the latest games!

This news item is more than 45 days old. Updates are unlikely and newer information may already be available.

Now, don't take this as like. Fact.

Even though I encourage you to take what I say as fact rather than opinion, this can be that one exception.

But various sources across the internet this evening claim to have found data in the recently released games, HeartGold and SoulSilver, featuring ex Team Rocket boss Giovanni and Celebi - officially the only Pokémon unobtainable officially in-game in European circles.

Despite my previous (obvious I thought) prediction about a GS Ball wifi event, there is no data in the games for any GS Ball. :(

Bang go the hopes of recreating this in DS 3D...

However, there appears to be data in the game relating to a time-travelling sub-story. In the storyline, your character is transported back in time by Celebi to meet Giovanni (who never featured in the original GSC games), at the point in time in which he receives the radio broadcast from the newly reformed Team Rocket, requesting him to come and rejoin them. Upon finding Giovanni and watching him listen to the broadcast, he remarks upon how he will rejoin, before battling you and claiming you remind him of a certain Pikachu-owning Pallet Town trainer.

Upon defeat he claims that the previous 3 years he has spent trying to become more powerful have clearly been a waste of time, and that he will never be able to lead Team Rocket again, before Celebi then transports you back to the present.

Of course, while we're hearing strong noises about this, it is NOT 100% confirmed. Nor are there any signs yet as to whether Celebi is indeed battleable. Still, these are promising signs I think!

UPDATE: We're hearing noises that you cannot catch Celebi in this particular event. Boo hoo.

This is not an event where you go and catch Celebi, it's an in-game event that can only be activated when you bring an event Celebi to the shrine.

The Celebi event is where you get transported back in time to when Giovanni abandoned Silver. FINALLY WE KNOW SILVER'S BACKSTORY!!!!
