Mike turns 21! :: News

Today is Mike's 21st birthday. Well, it's the birthday of many Mikes, and several of them will likely turn 21 today, but for us, only that of Typhlosion, PKMN.NET WebMaster, matters.

As is well known amongst certain parts of the site, Mike is a fairly grumpy person, and there have been people claiming he never smiles at all. We're here to disprove this claim. As it is his birthday, we think it's only right to make him smile a lot today.

While we shall not be exhaustive, here's a short list to give an insight and make Mike smile for the time of reading this post and perhaps a bit longer than that. But we'd be happy with just a second more.

The one thing that's probably obvious to anyone even vaguely aware of Mike is that he loves football. In particular Manchester United, with Wayne Rooney (for some reason) being his favourite player. While this can, at times, result in a very frustrating, depressing or angry demeanour, just as often seeing them play will make Mike happy and make him smile. It's a good thing he actually supports a decent team and not Arsenal.

A more recent favourite of Mike has been discovered in the past few weeks. While his figure does not betray these tendencies and he apparently needs to work his way towards it, Mike has recently betrayed a liking of the Triple Whopper at Burger King. Not only does he enjoy them (when he manages to eat them), it's mandatory to smile while eating them or else they simply will not fit.

Mike has friends, many friends. And he enjoys being with them. And many of them will make him smile occasionally too. But there are a few that are more special than others.

Mike loves Finding Nemo. The fish make him smile. He can talk for a long time about the fish. But that's not all. While debating Finding Nemo when in the vicinity of some fish (the reasons why we ended up near them being unimportant but fascinating, including jelly beans, coke and weird cups that break in dish washers and can't be cleaned), we discovered that, for some reason, Mike likes fish, and they make him smile too. Whether it's weird prehistorical fish that fall in love with him, or manta rays that wave at him as they swim past, Mike and fishes get along somehow. It's beautiful.

And the final recipe. Should you ever meet Mike and not have a football, triple whopper, fish or iPhone nearby (a rare occasion, we know, but one should always be prepared), it has turned out that smiling at Mike, especially with a slightly exaggerated grin, will make him smile back. He's not as bad as he's made out to be, honestly. He just likes to seem that way.
