Many moons ago hearts were a-flutter,
for today was the day that the world gained a nutter.
The birth of this man was such a relief,
for the hours of labour were anything but brief.

The nurses did recoil for they saw something weird.
It was a lil baby Rex who was born with a beard.
His mother protested and demand he be shaved
luckily though his face hair was saved.

The doctor said “No, you know not what you speak.
I’ve seen this before, it’ll be gone in a week.”
But the beard remained and grew more each day
By the age of 5 it was larger than Kay.

Now let us venture forward to his interest in law.
A career with much adventure awaited in store.
He studied very hard and a diploma he gained,
And all the while the bushy mass remained.

Due to low birth he will never be king,
to be a politico, now that is his thing.
With what party does our Rex hold most favour?
Oh you silly things, no one but New Labour.

So who is this Rex? And why should we care?
Is it just because of his proud facial hair?
Why no ‘tis not! He is a very dear friend.
On gifts galore our cash must we spend.

Working as an admin he has been loved a-plenty
and we now see this man emerge two and twenty.
I’ve run out of rhymes so this poem must end,
to bid him glad tidings some comments do send.
