The Poison Touch

Created by Tirael

The poison touch involves causing a drain upon the health of the foe, and self-sacrifice. Used mainly for double battles. NOTE: Please do not comment on the fact that they are all the same type and that this is a disadvantage. This is meant to be a mono-type team, and I want to show that it isn't necessary to combine types in order to make an effective strategy.
Haunter
Holding Focus Sash
Ability: Levitate
Moves: Nature: Modest
Special Attack EV: 255
Speed EV: 255

Haunter is a sweeper - fast and powerful. Her defense and special defense are very poor, and so focus sash gives a second chance. Possible double-battle partners: Drapion, Skuntank, Muk

Muk
Holding Black Sludge
Ability: Sticky Hold
Moves: Nature: Adamant
Attack EV: 255
HP EV: 255

Tank pokemon. Minimize reduces the chance that muk will get hit, and payback should be perfect for those nasty psycic types (which shouldn't affect him too badly because of his base stats for sp.def). Memento is a last resort (for use against legends mainly). Possible double-battle partners: Haunter, venomoth, toxicroak.

Skuntank
Holding Zoom Lens
Ability: Aftermath
Moves: Nature: Brave
Attack EV: 255
HP EV: 255

Tank pokemon. Held item Zoom lense combined with focus energy and night slash means a high critical hit ratio, and with Skuntank's EVs being high in attack, this attack could be potentially devastating. Explosion is used when health is low, and toxic as a drain for defense/sp.def heavy pokemon (such as blissey). Possible double-battle partners: Haunter, Venomoth, toxicroak, drapion

Drapion
Holding Life Orb
Ability: Sniper
Moves: Nature: Impish
Defense EV: 255

Since Drapion is a poison/dark pokemon, this automatically removes the threat of a psycic attack, and leaves only ground moves as super effective, for which drapion has ice fang - which is super effective against most ground users. The EVs in defense should also benefit against ground attacks, while the life orb increases the attack , which is already high. Possible double-battle partners: Skuntank, Haunter, Venomoth

Toxicroak
Holding Poison Barb
Ability: Anticipation
Moves: Nature: Adamant
Attack EV: 255
Speed EV: 255

The egg move fake out helps greatly in double battles, while poison barb increases the attack strength of poison jab. Possible double-battle partners: Muk, Skuntank

Venomoth
Holding Wide Lens
Ability: Shield Dust
Moves: Nature: Timid
Special Attack EV: 255
Speed EV: 255

Venomoth's superior speed gives her an advantage here, and with the wide lense she should be able to put foes to sleep without a problem. Bug buzz should get rid of most psycic pokemon, while the shield dust ability ensures that venomoth has a fighting chance even when against resistant pokemon. Possible double-battle partners: Muk, Skuntank, Drapion

OOH I gots a suggestion for the team. You might consider going with a nasty plotting toxicroak, as it would give you a useful attack against physical walls. It seems like most of your team is physical hitting, so a special thrown in there could even it out. I suggest: Toxicroak @ Life Orb @ Modest nature @ 252 Sp atk, 252 Spd, 6 HP @ Nasty Plot, Vacuum Wave, Sludge Bomb, Shadow Ball Vacuum Wave and shadow ball together give flawless coverage, while Sludge bomb is for STAB. Life Orb gives you a more reliable way to increase the attack power of all his moves =3 Very nice for a monotype team.

Thanks for the advice! :D

Very good! I like that your poison types mostly have an extra type or at least extra moves to compliment or protect their type. Personally, I like your Toxicroak's moveset best, even though it doesn't include a fighting type move. Protect is good for Earthquake, possibly, and Fake out is always a good choice. Bravo

Thank you much! ^_^

Good one =D. Is Protect necessary? Or just for a filler?
Tirael on Wed Apr 1 08:22:23 2009.
nah, protect is when I decide to team up toxicroak with exploding skuntank (since there is no way toxicroak can take a hit like that and live)

too many effect moves on venomoth.(tip:in double battles before skuntank uses explosion make sure haunter is on the field)
Tirael on Sat Apr 25 15:06:03 2009.
ummm yeah, I kinda know about ghost-type advantages :P but I give protect to other pokemon also because most people know that skuntank can learn explosion, and so they usually expect me to pair it up with a ghosty (though I do so sometimes anyway). Thanks for comment, but I don't understand. Venemoth has too many effect moves? As far as I can see, sludge bomb is for STAB and sleep powder is just used for putting opponents to sleep (or for quickly silencing a darkrai, which she can usually outrun), so I don't really see too many problems with her moveset.
