Richard's Updated Main Team

Created by Dragonmaster1132

This is an update of my main team, which is, and has been, the top-rated Squad on this site for... the longest time. The previous one, good as it is, is outdated, and I'd like to show the changes I have made to my team with my experience in battling being vastly superior than it was when I had posted my old Main Team. This team is made entirely of favorites. Tiers, power and synergy weren't considered in this team (although I find it to have amazing synergy), since these are just purely my favorite Pokemon. With that in mind, let us begin with my lead Pokemon:
Salamence
Holding Choice Specs
Ability: Intimidate
Moves: Nature: Modest
Special Attack EV: 252
Speed EV: 252
HP EV: 6

SpecsMence. An odd set to use anymore, let alone as a lead, but a very useful one. Draco Meteor OHKOs many leads, or gets them to 1 HP since most leads have a Focus Sash. Swampert is usually OHKOd by Draco Meteor. Flamethrower does around 50% to Occa Berry Metagross leads while they setup SRock, and lose the next turn, or switch to Heatran. Speaking of which, Hydro Pump is for a OHKO on Heatran, who walls this set otherwise, but you have to predict it'll switch-in. A relatively safe move to use when you're wary of Heatran, and catches people by surprise. Dragon Pulse is mostly filler, since Salamence usually has to switch a lot, but can sweep in late or end-game situations without the Sp. Attack cut that Draco Meteor gives. Auto-Intimidating opposing leads is a nice feature too, since I can switch Vaporeon in on Explosions from Azelf without it dying most of the time. Also makes Life Orb Fake Out Ambipom leads fail more than they already do.

Blaziken
Holding Choice Scarf
Ability: Blaze
Moves: Nature: Adamant
Attack EV: 252
Speed EV: 252
HP EV: 6

My favorite Pokemon of all time. Physical Blaziken with a Choice Scarf is a serious threat to a lot of Pokemon in the current metagame. Flare Blitz gets STAB, and has insanely high power, but at the cost of recoil damage, which can add up coupled with Stealth Rock taking 12.5% each time Blaziken switches in. This can be used to my advantage though, if I get within range of the Blaze ability activating. Even thing that resist Fire won't like taking a STAB Blaze Flare Blitz with Blaziken's amazing Attack stat. Even the bulky beast Gliscor is 2HKOd by Flare Blitz, which is quite amazing if you know it'll switch into it. Superpower is quite an amazing move for battering foes and switching out. Blaziken outspeeds Scarf Tyranitar, Dragon Dance Tyranitar (iirc, after even 2 DDs) and any other TTar varients, and OHKOs with Superpower, even through Chople Berry. Blissey is absolutely decimated by Superpower. Stone Edge hits Salamence and Gyarados switch-ins, and that crit rate can negate the Intimidate they throw at you as well. Also the best move on this set to choose for when you know your foe will switch, but you don't know to what. ThunderPunch OHKOs Gyarados and does damage to Bulky Water switch-ins.

Vaporeon
Holding Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
Moves: Nature: Bold
Defense EV: 252
Speed EV: 70
HP EV: 188

Vaporeon is, without a doubt, the backbone of this team. It's ability to switch into so many things and Wish + Protect stall is amazing. Plus it is, in my opinion, the best scout for Electric attacks to partner with Electivire. Gyarados is weak to Rock, and Vaporeon can actually live through a Thunderbolt if it has to. Anyway, Surf and Ice Beam are pretty standard. I opted out of Hidden Power Electric since my team carries a few ways of disposing of Gyarados already, and it's actually common for Salamence to switch into Vaporeon now and attempt to setup a Dragon Dance, since most carry Hidden Power Electric instead of Ice Beam. Wish provides Vaporeon with the ability to survive, as well as easing other team-mates switches into the fray, having their health restored upon entry, provided they live the attack they switch into. Protect allows Vaporeon to scout what the foe will do, as well as ensure that after it Wishes, it receives the Wish it used the turn before, and gives a free turn for Leftovers recovery.

Electivire
Holding Expert Belt
Ability: Motor Drive
Moves: Nature: Adamant
Attack EV: 252
Speed EV: 252
HP EV: 6

Helps even out the number of physical and special Pokemon on my team. The set is a bit outdated, and walled by many walls, but all hope is not lost for this Electivire. Due to the fact that most Electivire run the mixed attacking set on Smogon, this set has a slight element of surprise to it. After a Motor Drive Speed boost, Electivire outruns neutral Speed nature Choice Scarf Flygon and OHKOs with Ice Punch, outspeeds Choice Scarf Heatran and OHKOs with Earthquake, OHKOs Gyarados through Intimidate with ThunderPunch, 1HKOs most Blissey with Cross Chop(and can use it's own Thunder Wave against it on the switch-in if it carries it), and has good coverage in general. The problem Pokemon for this Electivire are Celebi, Slowbro, defensive Suicune, and defensive Pokemon in general. It simply cannot do enough damage to them, even with Super Effective hits (even backed by STAB in the latter two cases) to dent them significantly. Despite these things, I will say this thing has turned the tide of battle for me many times, and has single-handedly won games for me countless times. Getting a Motor Drive boost from Starmie, Choice Scarf Rotom, etc. isn't hard either, with Vaporeon. Vaporeon can also scout whether Rotom will try to Trick it's Scarf with Protect, so the switch-in is completely safe there if it's a Scarf Rotom.

Gardevoir
Holding Choice Scarf
Ability: Trace
Moves: Nature: Timid
Special Attack EV: 58
Speed EV: 252
HP EV: 200

I came up with this set myself one day while searching through Gardevoir's movepool. This is the most expendable, yet can be the most destructive Pokemon on the team. Basically, Gardevoir comes in on a wall like Suicune, Blissey, Milotic, Slowbro, or anything that can take special hits or status that Gardevoir can spread without worrying about it, and Trick the Scarf onto them while they setup on you. Will-o-Wisp is usually always used next, since the opponent is likely to switch to a physical Pokemon, and more importantly, one with Pursuit like Tyranitar, Scizor, or Lucario. If she hits them with Will-o-Wisp on the switch-in, I've just successfully ruined 2/6 Pokemon on my opponents team. Seriously amazing. But that's not all she's good for! She can come in on a Gyarados' Dragon Dance, bounce Intimidate back at it, outspeed it, and OHKO it with Thunderbolt. Psychic is STAB, but mostly just there to ensure I can hit things for neutral if Gardevoir lives for a long time, which she rarely does. I've been condiering dropping Psychic for Hidden Power Ice to make her able to come in on Salamence Dragon Dance, Intimidate it, and bring it down. Amazing support Pokemon.

Blissey
Holding Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
Moves: Nature: Bold
Defense EV: 252
Special Defense EV: 6
HP EV: 252

I don't care what anyone says, Blissey /is/ one of my favorite Pokemon. Blissey serves as special wall, being the best special wall in the game. Aromatherapy rids my team of status, which is helpful if one of them becomes afflicted with a status like Freeze, Paralysis, etc. Softboiled keeps Blissey alive. Thunder Wave is an important move on this set, since physical attackers like to switch-in on Blissey, and being Paralyzed is a hinderance to many of them. Being Fully Paralyzed can simply ruin them as well. Seismic Toss allows me to hit every Pokemon that isn't a Ghost type with a sturdy 100 damage per turn, which helps in wall-breaking when combined with Paralysis, since eventually, the foe usually has a turn or two when they're fully Paralyzed, and that will end their stalling real quick. About the EVs: Rarely is Blissey attacked from the special side on purpose, and even with 6 Special Defense EVs, she eats the special attacks anyway. This spread allows me to take as little from physical attacks as possible. She can even survive Pursuits decently when switching out.

First I'd like to say that I'm a rookie when it comes to team-rating so i dont know if this information will actually be of any use to you. Anyway, this team is pretty solid. I really like the Gardevoir! However I see one issue with the SpecsMence. Due to the fact that Draco Meteor kills it's special attack after one use, I presume you will be switching him/her a lot, which can be a pain for a Pokemon that's weak to Stealth Rock. Also Blaziken locked into Flare Blitz or Superpower is probably switched a lot because of the recoil and stat decreasing. May I suggest a Rapid Spinner such as a Foresight-Hitmontop? I don't know if you actually have problems with what I just mentioned but I just thought I'd point that out. Like I said though, solid team.

Actually, that was a really good rate, thanks.

The issues you pointed out are actually very good ones, and frustrate me greatly.

The problem though is that this if a favorites team, and none of my favorites learn Rapid Spin, though it would be very helpful.

Thanks for the rate. =)

Okay. Haha. Well I just though I'd point that out. I had a SpecsCharizard on my very first team and it was a huge pain to switch it in and out when a counter came in if there were rocks out.

I notice that if you do happen to lose mence early, a Torterra could do some damage to you. Very good team though
